Phobia is an irrational fear. Transphobia implies that people are irrationally placing trans people into a specific risk category. But when you look at recent risk factors in the context of school shootings and other violent crime, there is a pattern that's hard to ignore. The human mind is very good at pattern recognition, and when that pattern shows a consistent trend towards transgender people engaging in violent activities, along with other high-risk behavior... people start to notice things. The majority of those deemed dangerous are male-to-female transgender people. Put all these together, there is no such thing as transphobia. People are accurately making informed, pattern-matched risk assessments when they encounter such people.
