At #IFA26Advocacy, franchisors and franchisees from across the country made their voices heard on Capitol Hill — with many speaking to their local media outlets about the power of franchising, the opportunities it creates in local communities, and why the American Francise Act will establish long-overdue certainty that would protect local franchises for the long term.
Watch what they had to say:

From Salt Lake City to Capitol Hill 🇺🇸
@angiekatsanevas, founder and franchisor of Lunatic Fringe Salon and star of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, joined IFA in Washington, D.C. for #IFA26Advocacy to advocate for franchising and the local business owners behind it.
During a packed day in Washington, Angie helped recognize IFA’s Franchisees of the Year, spoke with media about the impact of franchising, and met with lawmakers on Capitol Hill to push for the American Franchise Act.
Angie has seen firsthand how franchising can create pathways to entrepreneurship and local business ownership. Thank you, Angie, for continuing to bring that story to a national audience and advocate for the people behind franchising!

What a week in Washington DC for the 2026 IFA Advocacy Summit!
It was an honor to be there as our Ogden, UT franchisees Nate Coombs and Kevin Hansen were recognized our IFA Franchisee of the Year. Proud of these excellent owners and the strong business and community they have cultivated.
We, along with my wife and our youngest daughter, spent time on Capitol Hill meeting with lawmakers to help push the American Franchise Act forward to protect the franchise model for years to come.
We also got to have dinner with our Washington DC franchisees, Verl and Ruth Dyer, along with Nate and Kevin. Great food and better company.
And it was good to catch up with my friend Mary Thompson, past chair of the IFA.
Grateful for an impactful week spent with franchisees and franchise leaders working to keep franchising strong.

Local franchise owners need clear federal rules so they can hire workers, follow the law, and operate their businesses.
That was the focus of my meeting with Cecilia Johnson of The Gents Place in Jourdanton, other Texas franchise owners, and representatives from @Franchising411.
When federal standards keep changing, it creates uncertainty for small business owners and local employers.
I am an original cosponsor of the American Franchise Act, which would provide a clearer standard for when a franchise brand is considered a joint employer.
I will continue working to support small businesses, support local jobs, and make sure employers in South Texas have the certainty they need to operate and grow.

According to @Gallup, support for unions continues to increase, now at 71% of Americans. Meanwhile, support for providing protections for franchising stands at 75%. Unions and franchising can coexist, so let’s get the American Franchise Act done to preserve this business model for future generations.

There’s no better way to understand the impact of franchising than to see it firsthand.
Iowa franchisee Sam Reges and her family recently welcomed @RepAshleyHinson (R-IA) to their Dirty Dough location in Cedar Rapids, where she met the team and saw how a locally owned franchise creates jobs and invests in its community.
As a cosponsor of the American Franchise Act, Rep. Hinson understands what’s at stake for franchise businesses — and visits like this help bring the story of franchising directly to lawmakers.
