EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Russian forces just launched a massive attack on a thermal power plant that belongs to DTEK, Ukraine’s largest private energy company. The power plant has now stopped generating electricity. While I was in Ukraine in July, I saw this side of Russia's war against Ukraine with my own eyes. After driving back from Kharkiv, where I passed gas stations that had been destroyed in recent Russian drone strikes, I visited a @dtek_en power substation outside of Kyiv that Russian forces have been working to destroy since 2022. Despite multiple missile attacks, Ukrainians rebuilt the facility and got it back up and running. The purpose of the visit was to understand how Russia is systematically targeting Ukraine's critical energy infrastructure. The Russians attack not just military sites, but the systems ordinary people rely on every day to keep the lights on. On the way to the substation, there was an air raid alert. We immediately had to follow the site's emergency protocol because Russia continues targeting Ukrainian energy infrastructure. We immediately rushed into a bomb shelter beneath a nearby school as the sound of explosions could be heard nearby. The safest place we could seek shelter was inside the bomb shelter for a local school that is next to DTEK, because Ukrainian children have to hide there whenever Russia launches missiles and drones. These kids aren't on a battlefield. They're trying to go to school. This wasn't a drill. I experienced firsthand what it's like to have your day interrupted because Russia is trying to terrorize an entire country. I met with the energy workers and grid operators who keep Ukraine's lights on. They told me about the brutal attacks on their energy grid last winter, how Russia deliberately tried to leave millions of civilians without heat and electricity, and why they're worried about the coming winter, especially if Ukraine doesn't urgently receive enough air defense. What struck me most was their patriotism. Each of these workers understands they could become a target simply by going to work. Yet, they keep showing up, because they believe keeping the lights on in Ukraine is part of defending their country from Putin’s aggression. Americans should pay attention to what's happening and how Putin is terrorizing Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Ukraine's experience is a reminder that energy security is national security. Critical infrastructure can become a battlefield, and protecting it is essential for any nation. There is a lot we can learn from Ukraine. WATCH my full interview at DTEK here: 👇🏻

Cooking dinner in the dark tonight. Another blackout in Ukraine. Fried potatoes. Nothing fancy. Just something hot and comforting After another cold, depressing day. Funny how war changes the little things. Right now, all I want is a warm meal, A cozy home and electricity. Things I once never even thought about.

Here we go again. Blackout. My home is cold and dark, So I went for a walk. But outside it’s just as depressing. Dark streets, dark windows, generators buzzing everywhere. That miserable autumn Without electricity has reached my area too. And I’m so tired of this. Of russia trying to make our lives unbearable. Cold, darkness, fear. Every single year. We are just civilians. We just want to live.

Russia has never stopped attacking Ukrainian energy and power plants, despite Trump's "ceasefire"
Yesterday, the Russians carried out one of their largest attacks on Ukraine’s energy sector – more than 15 critical power generation and transmission facilities were targeted across different regions of Ukraine. Restoration work is ongoing, with all necessary services and all available resources of Ukrainian energy companies involved. I thank everyone working practically nonstop to restore power. The most difficult situation was in Lutsk, Rivne, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Shepetivka, Slavuta, and Netishyn. Energy facilities in the Kharkiv, Kyiv, Dnipro, and other regions were also hit. The Russians have scaled up their anti-energy operation and are trying to stretch our reserves and repair capabilities as thin as possible. Between 7 p.m. yesterday and 7 a.m. today alone, more than 320 jet-powered and gasoline-powered “shaheds,” along with loitering munitions, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles, were used against our energy sector, our cities, and our communities. And although our warriors are shooting down a significant number of them, the sheer scale and unrelenting pace of Russia’s strikes, specifically against our energy sector, are unfortunately having severe consequences. It is important that our European partners have already prepared new support packages for Ukraine. I am grateful to them for this. And it is important that everyone in America also sees what is really happening. At a time when the Russians have carried out such a massive attack on our energy sector, a decision was unfortunately made in America to completely disregard the Lindsey Graham Act, which was supposed to impose truly effective pressure on Russia to bring this war to an end. This Act could have helped enormously – and still can! But it needs to actually work, and every voice in support of it matters. Russia is trying to cause a blackout in Ukraine – right before winter. Russia is trying to leave millions of our people without electricity and heating. Pressure is needed to stop this. A U.S. sanctions blackout, easing pressure on the aggressor, financial rewards for Putin – all of this only encourages him to keep attacking. We must not give up ground. We must keep trying to end the war. To end it, not give Putin every reason to continue it indefinitely. I thank everyone who is truly fighting for peace and helping Ukraine!

⚡️ "Russia has bombed energy infrastructure in Ukraine in recent days," UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham said, holding Moscow accountable for breaking the energy ceasefire. He added that Russia's recent strikes make it entirely clear to the global community who is responsible for continuing the war.

❗️A Russian shadow fleet oil tanker is on the move right now in the Baltic. Sailing under a false flag, the MYRA is reportedly linked to the son of an Iranian IRGC Navy commander & a UAE front company moving Iranian & Russian oil to China. Stop & seize this ship immediately.

I’ve co-signed letter calling on EU leaders to hold firm on Ukraine and impose a full embargo on Russian oil and gas. Moscow is counting on Europe to tire and resume business. We must deny it both the revenue and the prospect of escaping accountability.

Trump declared an energy ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine. So now, Russia is bombing Kyiv’s energy system with missiles, plunging the city into a complete blackout, while Ukraine isn't bombing Russian oil refineries. Very interesting, very cool.

🏥 A hospital serving around 200,000 people in southern Ukraine has installed a 90 kW solar power plant under the Ray of Hope project, supported by Belgium through the Ukraine Energy Support Fund. The solar panels supply electricity to operating rooms, intensive care, emergency and other departments. During summer, the hospital significantly reduced its electricity bills, freeing up funds for winter preparations and new heating equipment. ☀️ Since the beginning of 2026, 56 hospitals across Ukraine have started generating their own electricity through the Ray of Hope project. 🤝 Thank you to Belgium, the @EU_Commission and the @Ener_Community for helping Ukrainian hospitals remain operational during wartime.

🇪🇺🇷🇺 “Europe is still buying Russian energy.” Another lie to hide the disgrace of the US-Russia deal. 🔸 Russian gas fell from 45% to 13% of EU gas imports. 🔸 Russian oil fell from 27% to 3%, while coal dropped from 50% to 0%. 🔸Europe faced a historic energy crisis to end Russian dependence. The current energy crisis has everything to do with the poorly planned and miscalculated war in Iran. Everyone knows it, and no amount of propaganda will change that.

Throughout this past week, Russia kept attacking energy, gas, and oil facilities across Ukraine – over 200 attacks in total. Tragically, more than 150 people have been killed, while over 700 have been injured in Ukraine. One of the latest attacks targeted a power plant in Kharkiv – right after the announcement of an energy ceasefire. Russia brutally violated it. As President Zelenskyy has repeatedly stated, “Ukraine always FULLY supports steps toward de-escalation, the protection of lives, and the decisions needed to end the war and guarantee lasting peace.” Ukraine is ready for a full energy ceasefire if Russia stops attacking Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. What remains unclear is whether Russia genuinely wants the same. Continued terror must be met with accountability and increased support for Ukraine.

Kharkiv’s thermal power plant is reportedly being bombed by Russia right now in response to Trump's 'Energy Ceasefire'. It has been hit by several missiles. Kyiv is also seeing blackouts. So, that's a Russian no on the energy truce, which Ukraine said they'd accept if real.
