In the three months he had been detained at an immigration detention center in Louisiana, Julian Curo Churata had called or messaged every morning to reassure Ramirez and their three children in Maryland that he was okay. She soon learned her beloved husband had died in ICE custody wapo.st/4BimUIQ

Mississippi's Attorney General has ruled that a white Senatobia police officer was justified in fatally shooting a Black infant, Kohen Wiley, in June. Senatobia's police chief was fired last month after he was found to have used racial slurs in private texts.

They executed this baby because someone who loved him was desperate in her desire to keep him clean and dry. Diapers should be free; Fitch should be held accountable for this barbaric ruling; but above all, this sweet child should still be alive.
The police shooting that killed 1-year-old Kohen Wiley as he sat in his mother’s lap in a Walmart parking lot in Senatobia, Miss., in June “was justified,” Mississippi attorney general’s office announced mississippifreepress.org/pol…

Abdul El-Sayed: “I really am America First. I want our tax dollars spent here, not dropping bombs on other people over there. We shouldn’t be fighting these wars whether it’s a tariff war in Canada or a hot war in Iran. We’re paying for it in our gas, our groceries, in our souls in the sense that people look up and say who’s actually fighting for me? We’re offering that, people coming together around a politics of, by, and for the people rather than of the corporations, by the special interests, for the billionaires”

As a hospital chaplain I’m trained to recognize trauma, so I’m not exaggerating when I say this administration is doing permanent psychological damage to the country with its inhumane ICE raids and now a scheduled public execution. Our government is our emotional abuser.

ICE shot a New Yorker today while his five year old was in the car. But tomorrow, they're going to try to villainize this father and make themselves victims.
We’re on the scene to tell ICE and Donald Trump: New York ain't no place to play with.
We will protect our neighbors.

Idk a single person who wouldn’t flee from a random, unidentifiable guy in a $5 construction vest pointing a rifle at them and their preschooler.
This is disgusting and I hope these images are etched into your brains for every future election you ever vote in.

The Republican Party is so devoid of value and messaging that it blows my mind. They've got NOTHING!
I understand they've sold their souls at the altar of narcissistic sociopathy. But here we are, approaching a big election, and there's zero positivity emanating from them. Their ENTIRE message it to impugn Dems and do it cartoonishly - Dems are communists, Dems will open the border, Dems want Sharia Law, Dems want trans for everyone, if you elect Dems we'll go into a depression, blah, blah, and f*cking blah.
What about this amazes me? Let me add context:
We the People, collectively, ALL of us - Red, Blue, and In-Between - want much of the same things: a better life; good health coverage; less disease; jobs; roads; schools; and to smile, love, and laugh. In our government, we want a louder voice; a fairer share; a living wage; social services; liberty; and the ability to pursue happiness. In all these areas, there is a commonality of interest.
ALL these things are addressed by Dems, in every state and municipality, every day. NONE of these things are addressed by Republicans.
It's all fearmongering, mudslinging, and gaslighting.
And it's all in service of fraud, grift, and cover-ups.
They need to be rebuked and flattened in November.

the notion that we still think that the best way for a family to find peace is to gleefully watch a person killed by the state in front of them……it’s like humanity hasn’t progressed beyond medieval times. utterly barbaric shit

#UnitedStates: The case of Christa Pike lays bare multiple reasons why the death penalty should be abolished. The prolonged suffering – physical and mental – arising from multiple failed execution attempts is abhorrent, and cruel. And there are key fair trial questions still unresolved.
UN Human Rights Chief @volker_turk calls on the state authorities not to pursue any further attempt to execute Pike.
We are also troubled by the increase in the number of executions in the United States.
The death penalty has no place in any society.
How can a child be expected to face something this terrifying alone?
Yesterday, a judge ordered a 13-year-old boy deported to Honduras. He stood before the court without an attorney, accompanied only by his social worker. When he burst into tears and said, “I have no one there,” he was still just a child being asked to face an unimaginable situation alone.
Then came a 3-year-old little girl. A toddler was standing before the same system, also without an attorney, accompanied only by her social worker.
A 13-year-old who says he has no one waiting for him...

Why the fuck are we deporting minors by themselves? With no set safe place for them to go? This should never happen. Ever. What kind of sick society looks at a child and doesn't see a child, just an open question whether their citizenship entitles them to protection from adults?

Children as young as 2 have been forced to represent themselves in immigration courts during Trump's time in office:
“The kids who are unrepresented, they can’t read the form, much less figure out how to file it.... Fundamentally, that’s a complete violation of due process for a child. No one is asking a single question — who will you go to? Will you be safe?”
