Former Toronto Maple Leafs president Brendan Shanahan is now a strategic advisor to Kilmer Sports Ventures on its PWHL investment.
Kilmer has been putting real weight behind women’s sports, most notably by securing Canada’s first WNBA franchise and owning the Toronto Tempo. They’re bringing in experienced people and investing in infrastructure, including the Tempo’s planned training facility. You can see they’re building for the long term.
This goes beyond doing a “good thing.” They recognize a tremendous business opportunity that is women’s sports and are committing the resources to help it grow.
Women’s sports are gaining national airtime and visibility, with the PWHL coming to Hockey Night in Canada. The audience is growing. So is the opportunity!
Investing in the people and infrastructure to sustain that growth is how you build something that lasts.

Game 3 in Atlanta is the most expensive WNBA Finals game on record, with the current get-in price at $201.
For perspective, tickets to Game 1 of last year’s Finals sold for just $23.
Nearly NINE TIMES the price 👀

INBOX: Today, Unrivaled announced award-winning actor, producer and entrepreneur Issa Rae as an investor in the league. Rae’s investment came as part of the league’s oversubscribed Series C fundraise, announced in August, which propelled the league to a $650 million valuation.
“Unrivaled speaks to me and everyone who wants to set new standards, and what the league has done and continues to do for the best women’s basketball players in the world is something I’m proud to invest in,” said Rae. “After experiencing Unrivaled firsthand last season, it was clear that they’re building something special. I look forward to being part of the league’s growth and success to come.”

Brianna Turner responds to Amber Cox's comments defending the Fever fanbase:
"To say the attacks have 'no basis in reality' is disingenuous."
It takes REAL courage to share your experiences publicly and advocate for yourself.
Everyone deserves to feel valued, respected and heard, regardless of their role or platform.
Powerful to see you champion yourself, @Kelz_Hoop.
