So a skid row bud I hadn’t seen in years requested that I come visit her at the hospital. I did. After I checked on her and left her room, another patient saw me from another room and yelled “Hey Joseph! How are you man?” I greeted him and checked on him as well. As I walk out of his room I hear a lady from another room yell “Is that you Joseph! I know that walk anywhere. Come see me!” I went to visit her and when I was done, left to go to the elevator as the nurses looked in wonder. I got into the elevator with more nurses and as we hit a lower floor another man in a wheelchair almost leaped out of his chair to shake my hand. The doctors and nurses couldn’t understand as we talked as if we had just seen each other at a family reunion. One of the nurses said, “Officer, you have to whole hospital stirred up. You must be popular.” The man in the wheelchair said “Hey. We may not love the uniform, but we love the man in it.” Made my entire freaking day. I apologized to the nurses for causing a stir and went to grab a bite. Folks; Please pray for my Skid Row buds in the hospital today.
