This threatens the ability of researchers around the world to battle important diseases. Malaria, chagas, cryptosporidiosis, and leishmaniasis are just a few of those affected. Why is #NIAID choosing to obstruct its own research goals despite unanimous opposition from scientists?
It appears #NIAID will shutter the genome data base we all use daily. This strikes me as a significant mistake that may well endanger much of our global progress. @BSPparasitology @AS_Para @ASTMH @TrendsParasitol @AmSocParasit @parasitesrule @PiParasitology

Cryptosporidium parvum is a parasite that causes a diarrheal disease called Cryptosporidiosis (also called “Crypto”). It is found worldwide and typically infects the small intestine of humans and animals. Any dog, cat, farm animal or wild animal, including birds, fish, and reptiles, can become infected, though calves are the most likely animal to be infected. Anyone can get cryptosporidiosis, but it is more common in persons who are under two years of age, travel, work with animals, or are in close personal contact with someone who has this disease. Learn more about Cryptosporidium parvum beginning on page 123 of Parasitic Diseases, Seventh Edition. Download today at parasiteswithoutborders.com/…
Great read! Who knew Crypto shuts down induced apoptosis... fascinating findings!
Read our new paper: Cryptosporidium impacts epithelial turnover and is resistant to induced death of the host cell by @BethanWallbank out today in @mbiojournal. Great team effort with @RyanPardy2 @KingOfPathogens @BrodskyIgor journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128… Infected = not apoptotic:
