what is your most minor and inconsequential pet peeve that TCG Players do? Like something that shouldn’t bother you AT ALL but does? Mine is an opponent that says “We” for every action they make. “We’ll play this card, then we’ll attack with this”, annoys me more than it should.

Been testing a bunch of J4 for Riftbound and I think hes REALLY strong. He feels super oppressive into a lot of decks and it doesnt feel like he has many perticularly bad matchups.

This is a very positive change. Best Ofs are some of the coolest prizing in any game ever but they affect they have on tournaments is pretty negative imo.

A) It massively and artificially inflates the number of decks you have to reasonably prepare for before the tournament, which gives a MAJOR advantage to the tournament grinders that have the time to spend 40+ hours a week testing and the money to travel to every regional

B) It completely destroys data making it really hard to get an accurate read on the actual state of the format which in turn makes designer’s jobs way harder than they should be when they are already difficult

I dont get this idea that designers should be embarrassed that a lot of cards are getting banned. Its actually really awesome when designers can reflect like this and decide they need major course correction instead of just doubling down on bad card designs

For my non-Yugioh audience (aka all but 3 of you): Banlists usually have like 5-8 cards max on them. Yugioh is in such a disastrous state right now that they're emergency banning THIRTY FOUR CARDS. Fascinating, but if you're a designer, this should be deeply embarrassing.

This “old mechanics are outdated and bad so the game sucks” thing people do for Yugioh is insanely stupid. A game like Magic has WAY more old mechanics that are bad and nobody ever talks about that meaning Magic sucks. Why does it matter that Flips suck????

The idea of using cards as a resource is fun, but it also gives the game very little to stop one player from snowballing into an unstoppable combo, especially as power creep inevitably hits the game It's gotten bad enough that trap cards and flip monsters are mostly useless...
