If this plan is so brilliant, why are the comments always turned off? Afraid of hearing what Londoners actually think? This is ill thought out ideology dressed up as progress, ignoring the impact on businesses, deliveries, taxis and the people who keep London moving, fucking 🤡

Excellent article in the Wall Street Journal on Britain's unsustainable welfare spending:
— 7 million people (over 10% of the UK population) now claim at least one or more sickness or disability benefit. This is up 60% in the past 6 years.
— The UK will spend over £100 billion pound this year on sickness and disability benefits. This is projected to increase to £130 billion a year by 2030.
— No other Western country has seen such a rise in disability claims. In the US, 10.6 million people claim some form of federal disability payment, despite the population being 5x larger.
— 1 in 7 new cars sold in the UK are under the Motability scheme; however, only 10% of cars are modified for a disability. In one dealership, 25 out of 26 cars they sold in August were all under the Motability scheme.
— Charities, consultants, YouTubers and TikTokers have all sprung up, telling people how to maximise benefit access. Some of these videos receive hundreds of thousands of views. Over 1,000 people a day are signing on for PIP.
— According to a Government survey from 2024, 25% of the UK's working age population could theoretically be classed as disabled under the current criteria and access these benefits.
— A minimum wage worker who works 40 hours per week would take home around £1,880 per month after tax; however, if you are classed as too sick to work and claim PIP, you can take home £2,000 tax free per month.

Bridges can literally fall into the Thames and it’ll still be ‘another 50 miles of cycle lane please’. Cars are the enemy, everyone else is collateral @TfL and the like simply do not care.
Cross country grind today at @lloydparkrun no243 always tough here but fun
Three-way lights in Sloane Street now, it’s like a fucking disease spreading across this great city…
An old dear hailed me in Wimpole Street, tells me she doesn’t normally use cabs but as Jubilee line is down she will take me (lucky lad) can we go Rotherhithe please, that was such a fun filled experience!
Heading home, I think I got away with it today relatively unscathed to the horrors of the London traffic, a nice jump west took me away from the bloodied trenches..
Symons street into Sloane Square was closed for nearly a year recently for roadworks paving etc guess who’s back digging it up now again and closed it yes London London’s biggest clowns @thameswater
Heading in for another day of Thursday traffic trauma, a feeling of overwhelming joy has enveloped me. Just remember on a positive note we’re all suffering together.
Won’t be lack of work that will kill us off will be this ridiculous traffic chaos, get in a cab bail 10 minutes later, joke city.
Once again just the best service at @E1TaxisLtd turn up less than a minute later it’s on the ramp, done very quickly and efficiently as always. Rear brake pads and Erad oil changed.
