Our guest second flute, #MaronKhouri, (also 2nd flute of @METOrchestra ) tearing paper during @SarahGibsonComp‘s “warp & weft”. @gemmanewmusic explained this was representative of an artist tearing paper to make a collage. We hope to learn more about this wonderful piece soon!

“I urge us striking at the same time as the writers to change the awful inequity of money and power in film and television. I remember when we went on strike in 1960, the only time writers and actors struck at the same time. That strike got us film residual checks.  A monumental change. This moment is important and unusual, not to be missed.” -Lois Smith,  SAG-AFTRA member

Burt Bacharach, in his countless hits, never wrote a four-square phrase or predictable harmony. Burt, rightly proud of this, told me it was Darius Milhaud, his teacher at Mills College, who advised him: “don’t be afraid to write tunes people can whistle.” youtu.be/WcIVyH-YefM
