This evening, outside the NHAI Office, we said that destroying more than 4,000 mature trees during the monsoon to widen a road that passes through an elephant habitat reflects a deeply flawed model of development. We questioned why forests and wildlife should pay the price for the Rishikesh Bhaniawala road widening project that many commuters say is not needed. We also made it clear that we will continue to stand for the protection of our Jal, Jungle and Jamin in #Uttarakhand.
More power to us all 👍

Lakhs of pilgrims visit Kedarnath every year. If even 10,000 people carry back 2.5 kg each, that’s 25,000 kg of waste returning to the right place
Let’s support the campaign
Share this with anyone visiting Kedarnath.

Hypocrisy and World Environment Day:
Every year we celebrate World Environment Day, but what does that celebration mean when nearly 700 trees are reportedly being cut for a tourism road from Garhi Cantt in #Dehradun to #Mussoorie via #Kimadi in #Uttarakhand? In this video, I ask the young people about their thoughts and wonder if we are deliberately dismantling the very environment that makes this place special? As temperatures rise & disasters increase; perhaps this is the apt moment for genuine course correction, climate action reset and honest conversations!

Uttarakhand wants to know:
Uttarakhand wants to know from its CM Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami @pushkardhami and Forest Minister Shri @SubodhUniyal1 about adequate preparations for the forest fire season in state. Why is it that we never seem to learn lessons and are almost, always ill prepared? Why is it that every year the state talks about the same Sitlakhet model and yet does nothing about it? The people, animals and biodiversity of the state are looking upto you for answers and protection!
