Although AI leaders have become very good at speaking to investors, they have found it a far tougher task speaking to everyone else. Words such as efficiency, automation and disruption may sound positive and optimistic in a pitch deck. But to someone wondering what AI could mean for their job, they can carry a very different meaning. In my latest article for @BiznessReporter, I look at why some of the biggest communication challenges facing AI companies stem from the gap between how the industry talks about technological progress and how the public experiences it. When jobs are changing, businesses are restructuring and questions around accountability remain unresolved, broad promises about productivity and the future of work will only go so far. AI leaders need to be more specific about what their technology changes, where human judgement remains essential and who takes responsibility when things go wrong. That also means building trust long before a difficult headline arrives. The companies that communicate well will be those whose leaders are prepared to speak plainly about the opportunities, the trade-offs and the consequences of what they are building. Public trust in AI will depend as much on the judgement of the people leading these companies as on the technology itself. Digital art appears to be entering a new chapter. According to Art Basel, 51% of the high-net-worth collectors surveyed bought a digital artwork in 2025. Sales of digital, film and video art also grew, both in transaction volume and overall value. The figures are encouraging, but here's what caught my attention. Digital art is no longer attracting interest solely from the crypto community that drove much of the previous boom. Art Basel's expanded Zero 10 exhibition saw engagement from established collectors, museums and institutions, suggesting the conversation is beginning to mature. For years, digital art was often viewed through the lens of NFTs and speculation. Today, the focus appears to be shifting back to the artwork itself. That reflects a broader truth about technology. People rarely adopt technology because it's new. They adopt it when it makes an experience better. In the art world, one of the biggest opportunities isn't using AI to create art. It's using it to help people discover it. Collectors have always relied on galleries, fairs, advisers and auction houses to find new artists. Those channels remain invaluable, but they inevitably shape what gets seen. Online platforms have widened access, yet popularity and algorithms still tend to favour artists who are already visible. This is why I find the work our client NALA, The Art Matchmaker, is doing so interesting. By using data science to understand an individual's tastes, it helps connect collectors with original works by living artists they may never have discovered otherwise. The technology stays in the background. The artist, the artwork and the collector remain at the centre. Perhaps that's the future of technology in the art world. Not replacing human judgement. Helping people discover something they might otherwise have missed. What do you think? Read the full Art Basel article here: artbasel.com/stories/art-bas… #Art #Design #Digital #Technology #AI

Artificial intelligence is making it easier than ever to create content. First drafts of media materials. Blog posts. Report summaries. Media coverage analysis. Tasks that once took hours can now be completed in minutes. On the surface, this looks like a straightforward productivity story. I don't think it is. The more AI becomes capable of producing content, the less valuable content itself becomes. What starts to matter instead is the judgement behind it. Knowing which information to trust. Knowing which angle is genuinely newsworthy. Knowing when a statement creates reassurance and when it creates risk. These are decisions that AI cannot make in isolation because they depend on context, experience and accountability. Interestingly, the communications industry appears to recognise this. According to Muck Rack's State of AI in PR 2026 report, more than three quarters of PR professionals now use generative AI, yet almost every respondent still edits the output before it reaches clients or journalists. That statistic says something important. The industry is not using AI because it removes the need for expertise. It is using AI because it gives experts more time to apply their expertise where it matters most. The same distinction is beginning to emerge in journalism. Many journalists now use AI to support research and brainstorming, but more than half oppose receiving AI-generated PR pitches because they often lack accuracy, relevance and personalisation. In other words, the technology is being embraced for efficiency but rejected when it replaces judgement. I suspect this is where the communications industry is heading. For years, agencies have competed on the ability to produce more content, more quickly and across more channels. AI is making that capability increasingly accessible to everyone. The competitive advantage is therefore shifting somewhere else. It is moving towards the ability to ask better questions, challenge assumptions, verify information and understand how a single piece of communication contributes to a much larger reputation. Technology is undoubtedly changing communications. Ironically, it may also be making the human element more valuable than it has ever been. What do you think? @SapienceComms #AI #Tech #Trending

The UK's first 'TikTok Prime Minister'? Whether you agree with the label or not, Andy Burnham's approach to communications reflects a much bigger shift. People no longer expect leaders to communicate only through interviews, press conferences or official statements. They expect to hear directly from them, on the platforms they use every day. That is why TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn and other social channels have become such powerful tools for shaping public perception. We think this is a positive move. A strong digital presence enables leaders and organisations to speak directly to their audiences, respond in real time and build real relationships. It creates opportunities that traditional media alone simply cannot. However, the channels may have changed, but the principles of reputation have not. Every piece of content contributes to how a person or organisation is perceived - a post, interview or public response either strengthens credibility or weakens it. That is why social media should never exist in isolation. It should form part of a wider communications and reputation strategy. At @SapienceComms, our in-house PR, digital and reputation management consultants help businesses shape that strategy, ensuring every media opportunity, social post and public statement works towards the same goal of building long term trust. Britain has no shortage of strengths. From world leading universities and financial services to the creative industries, technology and AI, there is plenty that sets us apart. The challenge is that we are not telling that story clearly enough. In my latest article for @ipraofficial, I explore why Britain has a brand problem and why we need a stronger, more confident national narrative that reflects what the country is building today, not just what it has been known for in the past. Whether you are a business, an institution or a nation, reputation is shaped by more than achievements alone. It depends on how clearly those achievements are communicated, how consistently they are reinforced, and how well they connect with the audiences that matter. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.
