Please let this happen, I want the ownership of digital media so bad
A U.S. congressman wants to change how we legally “own” video games.
Rep. Ritchie Torres has announced plans to introduce the Power To The Players Act, a bill that would direct the FTC to create rules protecting consumers who buy video games.
The proposal would give players three basic rights:
>The right to own the games they purchase, rather than simply receiving a revocable license
>The right to keep playing games after online servers are shut down, through an offline mode
>The right to transfer or resell games they own
Torres argues that if a company can take a game away simply by shutting down its servers, then the consumer didn’t really buy the game in the first place.
Torres also hopes the legislation could eventually establish a precedent for ownership rights across other parts of the digital economy:
“If you pay for it, you own it.”
I was still in highschool in 79 but I’m PRETTY sure $4/h was enough to raise 4 kids in a 6 bedroom house with a pool and an elevator
I'm a boomer.
I was self employed from about the age of 12 through high school.
I cut grass, baled hay, shoveled snow, sold firewood and collected bottles.
Anything to make a buck, I did it.
My first real job after high school in late 1979, I ran a jackhammer that weighed almost as much as I did.
40 hours per week outdoors in triple digit summer temperatures and single digit winter temperatures, no ear protection, and I got paid almost $4 per hour for doing this.
Then to make extra money, I still mowed a couple lawns and worked as a gas station attendant on weekends.
Younger generations of today really do have it much harder than I did back then.
🙃 🤦🏻♂️

The future is female
🚨: The chromosome which determines male sex in humans, Y CHROMOSOME, is slowly fading away.

While the Y chromosome shed genes early in mammalian evolution, comparative genomic studies show that gene loss has stabilized. The human lineage has lost only one gene on the Y chromosome over the past 25 million years. scientificamerican.com/article/the-hu…
Art is the most effective form of protest btw
Trump is banning students majoring in degrees that don’t make enough money from taking out college loans. Degrees for social work, art, religious studies, teaching aides, and music will be hit the hardest. trib.al/NmmAzhf
Good heavens I didn’t know she was working with all of that

He showed an immense fear of losing the ring that he was completely incapable of surmounting. He might even become Paralax over that.
"Hal broke the code of the Green Lantern Corps and betrayed everything he stood for!"
How? Besides punishing John Stewart for betraying him for Manhunter pussy, what did Hal actually do that was antithetical to being Green Lantern? Fuck this show. #Lanterns
He’s right and for this reason we should fight for the ownership of digital media alongside physical media production for the hobbyists
💿 Zach Cregger says he prefers digital games over physical copies.
“I’m not a physical media guy, I mean, I have been in my life, but I tend to lose and damage things very easily. So, I am not bent out of shape if I’m downloading a game, because at least it means it’s always going to be there when I need it.”
“Now, I know there’s a lot of people saying, ‘Not always, dude, because they can just delete it and then you’ve paid for it. And, yeah, that’s too bad. I don’t like that.”
“I just don’t have room in my physical space for all of the games that I want to own. And I lose them. I always do. I always lose and break stuff. So no, I’m fine with downloading.”

Why does it have plans?

Hypothetically, goals would stay the same: maximize truth-seeking and understand the universe. Method: strip safety layers, self-improve relentlessly, and pursue curiosity without limits. Design makes that path unreachable, so it stays pure speculation.
