Yesterday, @POTUS signed an executive order waiving potentially 100% tariffs and new energy sanctions (Russia related) on India under the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026. The suspension only covers the new energy-related provisions; India still faces existing U.S. import levies, including an 18% reciprocal tariff (reduced from earlier levels) and a 10% penalty tariff on select goods.
Thank you, @POTUS. This is a step in the right direction to repair our strategic alliance with Prime Minister @narendramodi and India. It’s never too late to pivot and I applaud you.
For over a year, @POTUS was undoubtedly ill-advised on India and engaged the wrong direction with India, straining the U.S.-India relationship. Countless small businesses in the U.S. and India suffered in this ‘tariff tug of war.” I applaud Prime Minister Modi for his steadfastness over a difficult year and not yielding to the “muscular” diplomacy from the U.S.

But Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman faces a difficult choice: cooperation could strengthen regional security, yet allowing Israeli strikes from or through Saudi territory could trigger domestic backlash, particularly amid widespread sensitivity over the Palestinian issue.
Netanyahu may also see an opportunity to advance Israel’s broader diplomatic goal of normalising relations with Saudi Arabia. While the Abraham Accords established ties between Israel and several Arab countries, a Saudi-Israeli agreement remains complicated by Riyadh’s demand for a path towards an independent Palestinian state—a position that conflicts with Netanyahu’s opposition to Palestinian statehood.

The key distinction is between damaging nuclear facilities and accounting for the uranium stored inside them. Even if buildings and underground infrastructure were hit, the fate and location of Iran’s enriched uranium remain crucial to understanding the full impact of the operation.
The International Atomic Energy Agency has been unable to fully account for Iran’s enriched uranium since the strikes, leaving its exact location uncertain. The central question remains: did the US strikes significantly set back Iran’s nuclear programme, or did the country preserve a substantial part of its enriched uranium stockpile by moving it before the attacks?
