Presley Gerber’s death is a suspected overdose in a rehab facility. I’ve hesitated to share this. Before anyone comes at me: my son is open about his addiction and okay with me sharing. Below is a picture of my beautiful boy on life support. He’s an addict. He was a straight-A student in high school, played sports, and had lots of friends. He never tried hard drugs until adulthood; it only took once to become addicted. It’s been a nightmare. He wasn’t originally in the hospital for an overdose. While there, he mixed weed from his pocket with water and injected it into his IV line, stopping his heart twice. That’s how far addicts will go to get high. Addiction affects the whole family. We’ve tried everything to help him. We go to sleep every night wondering if that dreadful call will come. He has four brothers. They all love him, but a few have a hard time talking about it. I’ve never done drugs, so I don’t fully know what an addict goes through, but I have empathy. This can happen to any family. My heart breaks for the Gerber-Crawford family and all others going through this.
