John Jumper, who won the Nobel prize at DeepMind alongside Demis, was reportedly placed on 12 months of garden leave after leaving. One of the UK's top AI minds was been prevented from working on AI for TWELVE MONTHS. This is crazy. Meanwhile Google Chief Scientist Jeff Dean left the company after 27 years and co-founded a Discovery Loop A DAY LATER. We need to fix this.
One of the UK's leading AI labs has just launched an open letter to make the UK a much better place to recruit top talent. They're calling for an end to non-competes, long notice periods and garden leave. This is one of the biggest issues facing AI companies in the UK. @MattEvantic has been calling for this to be changed. @mati, @vriparbelli, @ac_edwards_1, @DanAkarca, @_rockt and many of the top AI founders in the UK have all signed it. Also supported by the teams @join_ef, @pluralplatform, @airstreet and many others. This would be a HUGE unlock if it happens.

Please welcome GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna to the GPT-6 universe. GPT-6 Sol and Luna build on the advances behind GPT-6 Astra, bringing much of its strengths into faster and more affordable models to support work at scale. We’ve also made caching and inference more efficient, and we’re passing the savings directly to you: 50% lower API prices for Sol and Luna compared with GPT‑5.6 promotional pricing.

Not to forget our friends across the pond.... Next week we'll host a second smaller get-together to celebrate GPT-6 in London! Our team there delivered core contributions to Astra, and we'd love to celebrate with you :) events.openai.com/gpt-6-lond… (click my link not Sam's)
We want to celebrate with people using GPT-6. We did this for GPT-5.5 and it was really fun. We’re getting together in SF on September 16 to talk about the model, what we should build next, and mostly just to hang out. Apply by Sep 10: gpt6-launch-event.openai.cha…

I enjoyed using Astra at work: for the first time in my AI usage this model actually proposes reasonable ML hypotheses. If you want to work on pretraining Astra successors, our London training team is hiring strong researchers! jobs.ashbyhq.com/openai/6fdc…

I think GPT 5.6 is pretty good
We're extending Claude Fable 5 access on all paid plans, as well as keeping Claude Code’s weekly rate limits 50% higher, through July 19.

one take that always ages really badly is that the models are intelligent enough and nobody can really notice the improvements anymore

Anthropic chose FreeBSD to showcase their Mythos zero-days. In the latest release, 8 CVEs were announced: 3 found by Anthropic, 3 discovered by AISLE's AI (!) AISLE is matching Mythos 3-for-3 on zero-days on the very codebase of their choosing at a fraction of the cost

A big win born in @OpenAI London! 🇬🇧
GPT-5.2 and GPT-5.2-Codex are now 40% faster. We have optimized our inference stack for all API customers. Same model. Same weights. Lower latency.

One of the best things in my career has been watching all the things Brain residents have gone on to do. @JeffDean, @ilyasut, Samy, Leslie, and co sure put together an amazing program. Thanks a lot!
I love seeing all the amazing things our Google Brain Residents and AI Residency Program cohorts have gone on to do! @hyhieu226's post spurred me to dig up a blog post and video from that era. 🌶️ hot take 🌶️ > we should normalize training on the test set yes, you read that right. no, I'm not joking. and, yes... I have taken ML 101 👉 here's why this is crucial for future multimodal LLM research [1/n] 🧵
