We’ve all had ‘traditional architecture bad’ drummed into us and we’ve all learned these thin, easily countered, 1960s arguments defending the clearly ridiculous consensus that it’s only practical to build ugly, barely functional, short life span infrastructure and public spaces
Not sure the panel is reading @wesstreeting right on @bbclaurak. IMO he’s clearly said ‘I can’t say 3% on TV, it’d spook markets, wait for budget day.’ I think they’ll stick to the 3% by 2030 metric @JohnHealey_MP resigned over

It is sickening that the USA is now lifting sanctions on Russian fuel, and transparently ridiculous to blame Ukraine for the spike in prices that obviously began with the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Putin is murdering innocent Ukrainian civilians every day. The Ukrainians are fighting for their lives. And yet the White House is apparently determined to force American drivers to bankroll Putin’s slaughter. It won’t work and I doubt it will make much difference to the price of fuel.
If we want Russian oil and gas back on the world market then let’s end this war - with a free, sovereign and independent Ukraine.
Our country has done itself proud in support of Ukraine and we should back them all the way to military victory over russia, which is coming. Crimea will be Ukraine again. And Ukraine has already become Europe’s foremost military power – an invaluable ally
❗️I want to sincerely thank the people of Great Britain for everything you have done for Ukraine.
Even before the full-scale invasion began, Britain was among the first to provide us with NLAW anti-tank systems — weapons that helped stop Russian columns on the approaches to Kyiv and in other directions.
This support only grew afterward: thousands of NLAWs, Challenger 2 tanks (Britain became the first Western country to transfer main battle tanks to Ukraine), Storm Shadow cruise missiles, and other equipment.
I would especially like to highlight the large-scale training of Ukrainian soldiers. Through Operation Interflex, more than 60,000 of our troops have already received training on British soil — from basic training for recruits to courses for commanders and instructors. This is one of the largest programmes of its kind since the Second World War.
Great Britain continues to provide significant military, financial, and humanitarian assistance, and this means a great deal to us. Thank you, Britain.

He’s saying with a straight face that the only population who has ever lived in a place, and who have lived there for centuries, have no right to self-determination. Who does then, the penguins?
'Once again, we call on the United Kingdom to resume negotiations'
Argentina's President Javier Milei says the people of Falklands do not have the right to self-determination as he calls for talks with the UK.

It’s crazy that this is absolutely affordable, engineerable, doable, buildable. The guys who choose the design just don’t want it

Imagine if every attack against the Islamic regime was aimed at the infrastructure keeping the people frightened?
Attack these courts executing innocents. Attack the Basij, prisons and wherever these foreign militias are stationed. Make the people feel like you’re purposely loosening the chains wrapped tight around their necks.
The regime will happily watch Iran burn. So they’re not frightened by America.
But they fear the people!
So focus on setting the people loose on them.
We should help @andyburnham
In my view, we have two major challenges: ballistic missiles and funding for Ukraine’s defense.
We are supposed to receive €30 billion in European funds, which we are awaiting. They are tied to the adoption of the relevant legislation. And here it is very important that parliament work – the entire parliament, including the opposition. Because neither the government nor the opposition has this €30 billion, and the money is needed for the defense of the entire country.
In addition, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine currently has a budget shortfall of $27 billion. At the beginning of the year, decisions were made at the Ministry to use in the first half of the year funds that were intended to be disbursed in the second half, and that money went toward drone production and other needs. Now, in the second half of the year, those funds need to be compensated for and supplemented.
Of that amount, we need $8–10 billion to ensure a normal start to next year, because this money is effectively needed in advance – to provide weapons and everything necessary for January 2027. Another nearly $20 billion is for the salaries of our military personnel, payments to the families of those killed, and other areas of funding. A lot of money is needed. I am working on this with the French and the Germans. Practically, we need to bring forward the second portion of the European funds allocated for Ukraine, and this is an extremely difficult task.

Makes you proud eh @JDVance? Think of the civilians you’ve helped bury alive.
To @donald_iro: thank you for personally ensuring I was paid just 30 minutes after this tweet, despite my having chased some of the owed money since May. You may have just become aware of how badly car owners are being treated. I urge you to look into how many other owners are 1/
Are other @hiyacar car owners having problems not being paid for rentals over long periods? I've only been paid three times since August last year – they're sitting on money for multiple drives for month. Please get in touch if you've experienced the same. @donald_iro @SolentUni
She may say she's being intelligent— she's being a fool. She may say she's being principled— she's being unprincipled. She may say she's being anti-imperialist— she's being deeply, actively pro-imperialist. She may say she wants to save lives— she's helping Putin kill more people
