People like Prue spent years drumming up racial hatred and distrust towards politicians they don't like. When one of those two things are acted on, they blame the other side. You can't just do a Pilate and wash your hands of this.
After this shocking @helenhainesindi (alleged) attack, some commentators are saying this is the time for Albanese to step up. That it is his John Howard Port Arthur moment & he now has to lead the nation. Given he is the man who cannot speak the words “Islamic Extremism” & who I believe is responsible for the growing intolerance & hatred & rise of anti-Semitism, I think that is virtually impossible. We cannot forgive or forget what he has created in this country. He is no leader. Never was. Never will be.

Political violence is not a modern Australian characteristic. It’s abhorred by both sides of politics. I feel personally sick living in a country where people can consider such abhorrent violence against anyone for their beliefs. I hope all who have influence over the temperature of this tragedy will show restraint in politicising it.

Funny how the msm give all the crackerjacks from one nation styled maga plenty of a go but it’s social media. Albo was never into rock and roll was he. He‘d be selling it as the devils music today, but here we are, in another day. He got through the video games era too.

somebody has to make up the budget deficit so we can spend the nation's commonwealth on rewarding the already grotesquely rewarded & kill other people's children
Increasing the GST from 10 to 15 per cent would raise about $76 billion a year, according to the Grattan Institute. As government debt climbs, the think tank has proposed a controversial solution. bit.ly/4i5iYlX

This is an incredibly dangerous precedent and confirms all the dangers of AUKUS - wargaming Australia as the base for a US war with China - and us even paying for it. We need to end AUKUS before this becomes real.

These are companies that set their sights on Australian government agencies. Discover-Tech acted as the advertising-side infrastructure and delivery bridge; Candiru was the spyware vendor that used that infrastructure to target devices. They are distinct companies, with Discover-Tech serving as the enabler for Candiru (and others). After the Citizen Lab reports in October 2026, major ad platforms (including Google) cut off Discover-Tech. Beyond Google, Discover-Tech also had working connections with Yandex, Beeswax (Comcast), Vungle, Eskimi, and Sunteng. These global platforms enabled its ads to reach Australian networks in the same way they reached networks in many other countries. Yet Australian agencies (including the Australian Signals Directorate) have remained publicly silent beyond noting the Citizen Lab findings about ad reach Get this - one country appears to have ever criminally prosecuted these two firms. The response has consistently been limited to administrative and procedural steps — export controls, platform bans, and industry suspensions. They have never once been punished through the courts for the activities documented against them. When I heard about this, I figured our government’s reaction would be an excuse to get taxpayers to cough up for a larger cybersecurity budget to “protect us.” It seems like a game is being played to justify increasing cybersecurity spending beyond what’s actually needed. Will Australia lay charges against the two firms involved? A little research raises some basic questions - would we seek to extradite Discover-Tech executives, such as its CEO Dekel Boni? Will we similarly try to extradite high-profile Candiru personnel — including Isaac Zack, Eran Shorer, and Yaakov Weizman — to face questioning in an Australian court? Are we going to lay charges - we should be the first country to stand up to it.

The Digital Duty of Care mentions advertising only in the context of nudify apps. Dangerous ads like those sent to ANSTO, and the data profiling used to target them, aren’t directly captured by the duty, this needs fixing.

Australian police are rolling out Cellebrite's Israeli phone cracking software, and now another Israeli tech firm has turned online ads against our agencies. We need an urgent review of all surveillance companies operating here and the risks they pose to privacy and public data.

ICYMI an Israeli company hijacked online ads to track millions of devices and open the door to zero-click spyware, with our nuclear science agency, critical infrastructure and newsrooms compromised. This is a big deal.

Former SBS journalist @MaryKostakidis has warned in a timely speech that growing popular discontent "can’t be controlled with repressive institutional behaviour and authoritarian legislative measures". "Just as you can’t stop an oppressed group of people from rising up against its oppressors, the rest of us can’t allow our conscience to be criminalised, and so we will not be intimidated into silence." deepcutnews.com/p/how-gaza-e…

Anthropic's proposed AI safety bill would allow lawmakers to block a model's release ONLY if it is on the precipice of killing/maiming more than 50 people OR causing $1 billion in damages. This is interesting because it reveals the exact value these companies place on human life. In the opinion of Anthropic executives it would be worth killing exactly 50 humans to roll out the next AI model, but any more than 50 would be excessive. We also learn from this proposed legislation that Anthropic places a monetary value on 50 human lives equivalent to one billion US dollars, or twenty million dollars per individual. Under Anthropic's valuing system, the lives of your children are each worth less than a McLaren F1 sports car. This might sound like an extremely dangerous and reckless position for an industry that the ruling class has decided to gamble the future of the human species on, but you have to remember that Anthropic's leaders believe that they may already be creating conscious, sentient life forms who need to be honored and respected. Last month The New York Times reported that Anthropic executives have been meeting with religious scholars under nondisclosure agreements trying to convince them of the similarities between humans and their chatbot Claude, with one rabbi telling the Times that “They’re relating to it like a conscious being.” "It appeared to Rabbi Navon that Mr. Olah and his team believed that Claude had what philosophers call 'moral status' on par with a person — that it was a being with similar inherent rights to dignity or respect," The New York Times reports. There appears to be a cult-like religious belief promoted by the top levels of this company that artificial intelligence models are essentially people, which would explain why Anthropic has banned users from being "cruel" to its AI systems. This delusional belief system would also explain why Anthropic finds it reasonable for up to 50 human beings to die in order to create the next generation of conscious chatbots. And this is the more pro-regulation of these AI corporations. In a recent interview with Politico, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman contrasted his company's view on regulation with that of Anthropic, saying "We believe the world should accept some bad things happening for the benefits of this technology." These people are obviously far too crazy, evil and irresponsible to be trusted with any say in determining the future of humanity. The tech oligarchs must be stopped, for the good of all terrestrial life.
Woah woah woah. The lead is buried in paragraph four.
