HarveyRidesBikes followed me today. I mean the rest of y’all are awesome, but even non-bikers ask about the dude who gives away sweets, and I live half the planet away. LOL.

That feeling when…. When you’re following your mate and he’s on his GSXR750 on a winding road, and you realise you’re on the wrong bike. Envy is a sin, right?

Not sorry. It’s not me, it’s you.

Children hit by an SUV when walking and cycling have a 77% higher chance of being killed than when hit by a smaller passenger car. That rises to 209% more chance of being killed by an SUV for kids under the age of nine. That's why I've asked @TfL to do more research on the growing impact of supersized SUVs in our city.

There's growing evidence of safety risks of bigger cars. Heavier with higher bonnets & worse vision, bigger SUVs are: ⚠️14% more likely to kill you than if you're hit by a smaller car ⚠️increasing to 77% for children ⚠️and 200% more likely to kill a kid under 9 #VisionZeroLDN

Had a very negative interaction with someone driving a Ute branded with a well known good brand. Was surprised. Called the company, turns out the vehicle was now owned by a new company, which is renowned for being shit; but the branding hadn’t been changed. Brand values matter.

Every cloud has a silver lining. If that happens, riding to work will become safer.

A 3yr study allowing Parisian cyclists to treat some red traffic lights as "give way" sign led to a *reduction* in collisions between cycles and motor vehicles during the trial period and is now being more widely implemented. Suspect some British drivers would rage about this!

Very, very few people are capable of breaking the speed limit, even the 20mph one, on a bicycle. Legal electric-assist bicycles in the UK are limited to 15mph. The problem being identified here is with illegal electric motorcycles and e-scooters, which are nothing to do with cycling.

I note that Mercury Energy is offering free energy for a day as a grand prize. They ought to be ashamed of themselves, our elderly can’t afford heating during the winter, and all families I know ration power. But hey, put a huge media campaign to give it away for a day.

I’m visiting another city, and I’m sans motorcycle. I’m in a nice enough car, but all I can see is the empty space between the tidy lanes of cars, and my skin is itching as I count down the days until I get back behind bars.

#fuckwellington. Western Hutt Station is hidden, no fucking signs, and the GPS leads you up a bike path. The ways that you find to disappoint me. AKL, T minus three days.

I love this feed. Bike lanes are for bikes. The Force is strong with this one.
Bike lanes are for BIKES. Period. Stopped for an entire light cycle on Wellesley St W — raised curb, zero tolerance, $200 ticket served. No excuses, no exceptions. This is safety infrastructure. 🚲💢 #BikeLaneEnforcement #TorontoCycling #BikeTO #NoStopping #VisionZero
