Apple's first foldable launch is turning into a mess, and Samsung may be the biggest winner.
Apple reportedly expanded the iPhone Duo's launch from just two markets to more than 70 at the last minute, despite limited supply.
Within 30 minutes of pre-orders opening, estimated delivery dates in some markets slipped from October 23 to January 25, 2027.
That's a long wait for a $2,000 phone. Meanwhile, Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8 is already available to buy.
Apple's struggles are a reminder that making a foldable is one thing, but producing enough of them to meet global demand is another.

Samsung’s new "Choose the Sure Thing" campaign urges consumers to prioritize SSD reliability over the cheapest price. With memory shortages driving storage costs higher, cutting corners could mean risking something far more valuable than the hardware itself: your data.
The global campaign spans landmarks like Times Square in New York, Piccadilly Circus in London, and Hong Kong’s Entertainment Building, reinforcing one message: when you have everything to lose, reliability matters.
Samsung backs its reputation with quality storage solutions and Samsung Magician software, which offers firmware updates, drive health monitoring, temperature checks, and data migration tools.
The Samsung Galaxy S27 series could launch earlier than expected.
- Samsung may launch the Galaxy S27 series in early January 2027, earlier than the recent Galaxy S25 and S26 release windows.
- The lineup is said to include Galaxy S27, S27+, S27 Pro, and S27 Ultra, with major components already finalized.
- Rumors suggest Exynos 2700 for most base and Plus models, while higher-end variants may use newer memory and Qualcomm chips depending on the model.

The Apple iPhone Duo is confirmed to have a bigger battery than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8.
- Apple’s iPhone Duo has a 4,883mAh battery, larger than the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and even the Fold 8 Ultra.
- Its rated endurance is 51 hours and 30 minutes per charge, ahead of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 but below the iPhone 18 Pro Max.
- Samsung’s foldables still lead in drop resistance, battery cycle lifespan, and thinner, lighter design.

Samsung may use rival TSMC for Nvidia's custom HBM4E (NVHBM) base dies.
- Samsung reportedly agreed to use TSMC's 3nm process for the base dies in Nvidia's custom NVHBM HBM4E chips.
- The memory core die will still be made in-house on Samsung's sixth-generation 1c process, while standard HBM4E for other customers stays in-house.
- Samsung is reportedly also testing its own foundry as a backup in case TSMC runs into capacity constraints.

Apple discusses Samsung's role in iPhone Duo's foldable display.
- Apple says its foldable iPhone uses a custom Samsung-made OLED display, not an off-the-shelf panel.
- Apple designed the screen around its own goals for durability, IP68 resistance, and an uninterrupted inner display with an under-display camera.
- The iPhone Duo’s screen uses a matte finish to reduce the crease’s visibility, while Samsung’s foldables remain thinner, lighter, and cheaper to repair.

Samsung may be planning its biggest One UI overhaul yet.
➡️ According to tipster Ice Universe, One UI 10 could bring unprecedented changes to Samsung's software experience when it debuts with the Galaxy Z Fold 9 and Z Flip 9 next year.
➡️ The Android 18-based update may introduce a major visual redesign, alongside improvements to animations and transitions.
➡️ There are also rumors that Samsung could rename One UI to Galaxy OS and introduce deeper AI integration, though nothing is confirmed yet.
➡️ If the leaks are accurate, 2027 could bring one of the biggest changes to Galaxy software in years.
Apple's first foldable iPhone may be bringing even more attention to Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8.
@Samsung says Google searches for its foldable phones have surged 300% over the past month, while customer demand for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 family has increased 16% since launch.
The spike in search interest coincides with the iPhone Duo's launch, suggesting Apple's entry into the foldable market may be encouraging more people to explore Samsung's alternatives.
And that could be very good news for Galaxy Z Fold 8 sales.
The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra makes the most sense on a desk. Its 14.6-inch AMOLED display gives apps and windows room to breathe, the new MediaTek chip delivers flagship performance, the speakers sound excellent, and the S Pen is included.
Add the Pro Keyboard and it feels much closer to a Galaxy Book. It’s a compelling setup for writing, research, multitasking, and creative work.
But the tablet starts at $1,399.99, and adding the keyboard takes the total close to $1,800. At that price, remember that DeX provides a desktop-style interface, not desktop software.
There’s also little reason for Tab S11 Ultra owners to upgrade. The display, dimensions, battery capacity, and 45W charging are unchanged.
For buyers who want an enormous Android workspace, the Tab S12 Ultra is excellent. Everyone else should also consider the smaller Tab S12+, a discounted S11 Ultra, or an actual laptop.

Samsung may be forced to bring Exynos back to its Ultra flagship.
• A new report claims the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 is running too hot during sustained workloads in Galaxy S27 Ultra testing, causing performance throttling.
• Samsung has reportedly given Qualcomm until mid-October to resolve the issue before it locks in its processor choice.
• If Qualcomm can't meet Samsung's thermal and stability targets, the Galaxy S27 Ultra could use the Exynos 2700 instead, potentially marking the first Exynos-powered Ultra in five years.
Would you be okay with Samsung using an Exynos chip in the next Galaxy S Ultra smartphone?
Samsung has earned a spot on TIME’s Best Inventions of 2026 list with three innovative products, highlighting the company’s continued push to make everyday technology smarter, more useful, and more advanced.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra was recognized for its exclusive Privacy Display, which limits viewing angles to protect on-screen information. Integrated into One UI, the feature lets users apply privacy protection across the entire display or to specific areas, giving them greater control over their personal data.
Samsung’s 32-inch Odyssey G8 also made the list as the industry’s first 6K gaming monitor, combining ultra-sharp image quality at 165Hz with a Dual Mode that supports up to 330Hz at 3K resolution.
Meanwhile, the Bespoke AI Family Hub refrigerator earned recognition for its Vision AI capabilities, powered by Google Gemini, which can identify more than 2,000 packaged food items and log them automatically.
The man orders everything from Samsung, but sure: “The other examples in the world felt kind of cheap and crappy,”
Disrespectful; without Samsung MX, no one would have invested in this category of foldable devices.

Snapdragon's heating issues could reportedly force Samsung to use the Exynos 2700 chip in the Galaxy S27 Ultra.
- Samsung reportedly found Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 overheating in Galaxy S27 Ultra testing and causing throttling under sustained load.
- Samsung gave Qualcomm until mid-October to fix the thermal issues before choosing the processor for the phone.
- If the problem remains unresolved, Samsung may use its own Exynos 2700 in the Galaxy S27 Ultra, with Exynos also likely in other Galaxy S27 models in many markets.

Not a fan of the Galaxy Z Fold 8’s selfie camera cutout? There’s an old One UI trick that can make it much less distracting.
➡️ Go to Settings → Display → Camera cutout, select an app, and choose Hide camera cutout. One UI adds a black bar across the top of the screen, creating a cleaner, more uniform look.
The best part? You can customize the setting for each app and separately configure the Fold 8’s inner and cover displays.
Furthermore, apps generally adapt to the reduced screen space without switching to their phone layouts.
The trade-off is a little less usable screen height, but if that camera hole bothers you, this One UI fix is worth trying.
Samsung’s Galaxy S27 Ultra could bring a subtle design change: slimmer display bezels and a thicker camera bump.
According to a new leak, the bezels may shrink to 1.28mm, down from 1.32mm on the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Meanwhile, the camera housing could grow to 4.69mm thick, compared with roughly 4.5–4.6mm on its predecessor.
Samsung is expected to unveil its next flagship lineup in January or February 2027. Rumors suggest a broader design refresh for the Pro and Ultra models, including a camera housing that stretches across much of the phone’s width.
If the leaks are accurate, the S27 Ultra could look more refined from the front while sporting a bulkier camera design on the back. As always, these details remain unconfirmed.
