NEW: Trump’s mega Venezuelan oil deal, signed by Hegseth and Rubio, benefits an unknown group of investors and was intentionally crafted to keep the next U.S. president or future leaders of Venezuela from undoing it. @propublica saw the secret contract: propublica.org/article/trump…

However, the IOC refuses to comment on such activities by the head of the Russian Olympic Committee — a member of the IOC.

Note that this "strategic partner" (quite a euphemism) did not fund investment or growth or even debt. It basically provided funds for augmenting player prize money. This fate? Blazingly predictable....

Enjoying the @andyroddick commentary on ESPN so far but then that's no surprise. One of the most insightful and quick-witted players I have covered in nearly 40 years of doing this. He also -- dare we dream -- seems to understand the power of silence in his work with @cbfowler #Tennis commentary needs a revival of less-is-more

This piece on the @usopen and this indefensible Kalshi deal is excellent/enraging. As usual in tennis, the players will bear the brunt. What are we doing here, people? What a stain… benrothenberg.com/p/us-open-…

The U.S. Open is a casino now, even more unavoidably so after the tournament signed a deal with Kalshi.

It’s actually scandalous.
A grounds pass ticket for day 1 at the @usopen is currently $363. Some might call it market forces, but in simple terms, it's an outrage. New Substack here. Subscribe for free if you can.

10 years ago, I paid $50 for a grounds pass on my first trip to the US Open and it was one of the best tennis days of my life. Wandered the grounds for 12 hours from match to match.
It's a shame that the USO is now pricing out so many tennis fans from having similar experiences.
New Substack on the scandalous system that means a @usopen grounds pass for day 1 will cost you $363, 8 times more than at @wimbledon ⬇ 🔗
Big shoutout to the great @rennaestubbs. She made a fantastic vid for my mother’s birthday. Worth every penny. Consider having one made for your special occasion: cameo.com/rennaestubbs?srslt…

Piracy is the most effective way to preserve movie history, whether you like it or not... Especially older obscure films... Great filmmakers understand that fact... Werner Herzog is certainly one of them.
There are millions of cinephiles today who wouldn't have been exposed to great films if not for piracy. In countries like India, it is the only way to watch older movies, since the other options are unaffordable for normal working people.
Most studios & almost all the streaming platforms don't care about preserving movies, but the pirates do. We are forever indebted to their passion & hard work.

This is murder. ICE routinely deposits released detainees far from their home just to be cruel. It’s standard practice. To do this to a blind man on a wet cold winter day in Buffalo is to know you are potentially sending him to his death.
MS NOW: There is growing outrage today over the death of a blind father who was dropped off by Border Patrol agents miles away from home and in the cold. Nurul Amin Shah Alam was a Burmese refugee. His attorney says he was not only nearly blind, but spoke virtually no English. He had been reported missing by his family and then found dead a few miles away from where he'd been released after a five-day search. His family said no one ever notified them he had been dropped off.

ICE shoot pepper spray into moving car in busy traffic—hit U.S. citizen driving & her 3 kids.
New bodycam footage clearly show agents lied claiming family was "impeding."
"My eyes were burning, I had crying kids... How did I manage to drive?" mom said. "It's assault on minors."
Video shows 2 agents drive up alongside the moving car—then pepper spray the 3 young girls ages 18, 15 & 11.
ICE vehicle then turned on its police lights and sped away fleeing the scene
The incident occurred while driving home from shopping at Easton Town Center in Columbus, Ohio.

Congress diverted an extra $34 billion in taxpayer funds to unrequested projects for the military contractors bankrolling their election campaigns.
This is 156x the amount of fraud found in Minnesota.
I assume right-wing influencers are going to film themselves banging on the doors of the Pentagon demanding they pass an audit now, right?
DHS spent today replying to individual tweets saying they left this man in a coffee shop "determined to be a warm, safe location" only for video to emerge tonight showing it was the middle of the night, cold and the coffee shop was closed.
Replying to @samstein
Here are the FACTS.
On February 19, 2026, Buffalo Police Department alerted Border Patrol about a non-citizen in their custody.
Our agents confirmed that Mr. Shah Alam entered the United States as a refugee on December 24, 2024, and was not amenable to removal.
Border Patrol agents offered him a courtesy ride, which he chose to accept to a coffee shop, determined to be a warm, safe location near his last known address, rather than be released directly from the Border Patrol station.
He showed no signs of distress, mobility issues, or disabilities requiring special assistance.
