I finished the @SinkingStarGame demo, and I only have a single critique, because it is absolutely bloody fantastic. There are far too many tutorials and spoilers. Of course, the game isn't done, so some of these may be made more implicit, or conveyed through gameplay rather than talking at the player eventually, but this stuff really has to go. It immediately and unavoidably robbed me of the chance to explore the world, and figure out how things work on my own.

AMD ended up sending us the boxes and giving us a $2M contract. Their stock went from $97.10 to $608.10 and the software is quite usable now. Are you a chip maker who wants to turn your life around? Who is hungry to win? @intel @Qualcomm @tenstorrent

If this isn't worth 200k to AMD to send us a few boxes, I don't know what to tell you. Cultural test to see if AMD can invest in software, if not why should I waste my development time on MI300X?

Look at him, thats my Qual. Your what? My Qualitative! My vibe specialist. Look at him, you notice anything different about him? Look at his face. I'll give you a hint, his name is Jayden. He won a local poetry competition in bushwick! Yeah I'm sure of the vibe.
Quant firms are hiring idea guys, not quants I've been skeptical about the whole - software is commoditized, ideas are the moat argument But I've seen first hand the best quant and technical firms in the world hire thinkers, liberal arts grads, and generalists I predict the trend accelerates Letter from @AQRCapital below

In an age dominated by technology, in which efficiency and profit often take precedence, it is so important that we continue to cultivate a spirit of contemplation and allow time and space for beauty. Such an attitude will greatly help humanity, especially young people, to discover the ability of art to uplift and reveal the depths of the human spirit and our openness to the divine. Contemplation presents a marvelous opportunity to encounter the God who is Beauty.

I dream of a new world. User interfaces that entirely remove the concept of resizing. Desktop monitors are all fixed 3:2 aspect ratios and available in one fixed physical ANSI-standard size. Windows cannot be resized by the user, the size is prescribed by the program at compile time -- this way, WYSADTIWYG: What you see at design time is what you get. You can design interfaces freely, with great liberty knowing that they will never be resized, as if it is a physical object like a piece of paper. No phones or iPads to design for and they do not exist. Keyboards have dedicated F1-F24 function keys (tilted forward). Touchscreens are an instant impossibility. No animation API in the operating system. Standardized action buttons on the keyboard (CONFIRM/REJECT). Nothing floats, everything is anchored to the window frame. Input latency is sub-millisecond. UI shows the state of important metrics and program features at all times, visible and never hidden. Nothing slides. Nothing moves. No emojis, only ascii-128 (no utf-8). Scrolling ok with scroll bar visible at all times. There is no concept of notifications. Computer state in a dedicated area on the monitor, always visible, cannot be hidden. No HDR in UI. No markdown.

honestly, the fact that Anthropic thought this would work proves to me that they're clinically delusional and they have completely lost touch with reality any person of sound mind would realize it's a fool's errand to tell the Pope he's wrong about metaphysics
There are some people who don’t realize “is the Pope Catholic” is a rhetorical question. nytimes.com/2026/09/29/us/an…

First they erased borders. No one said anything. Then they removed highlights and shadows. Fine. Flat colors everywhere, nothing stands out. Ok. Tiny bit of rounding of corners. How do I resize the window? Grab handles? More rounding. Oii... Scrollbars hidden. Okkk. More rounding, but now offensive. Let's hide everything behind hamburgers Infinite scroll. Doom optimized. Everything started animating. Hmm.... Wait...why are all buttons purple? WTF? More rounding. Cookie popups Why is everything orange-purple? Holyshit...everythings moving. Blur and transparency added. Can't read shit. Rounding off is no longer possible, it's maxed out. LIQUID ASS Human Machine Interface is rolling in its grave Everything is floating. Pills. Why is the laptop warm, must be nothing, psh... Sales chat popups (w/ low IQ asmr sound effects) Pills fucking everywhere. Tabs are search bars, nope jk. <---- we are here I am going a new planet, this one is FUBAR. You guys have fun!

I desperately searched the settings to see if there was a way to turn it off. No. The best I could do was switch to the Ash theme to get rid of the new colors. I already was disappointed in how Firefox didn't match my desktop look, but now the ultra-roundness makes it worse.

Spamming alt+tab (borderless fullscreen <-> windowed) in Petafab. Maintains 240Hz 4K. FPS counter doesn't drop at all. You don't have to have a massive stall when going to fullscreen. Or any stall at all.

Rust no longer the defacto best language for agents Compile times are too long, I'm always finding myself bottlenecked by time not intelligence And the agents have gotten really at doing manual memory management now
