DEAR BIAFRANS,
OFFICIAL COMMUNICATION FROM THE LEGAL TEAM — 18 OCTOBER 2026
Following a 20-minute discussion among the legal team, in conjunction with lead counsel, we wish to communicate the following factual and legal points for the attention of Biafrans worldwide.
1. EXPECTED RELEASE DATE
Simon Ekpa is expected to be released before, or on or around, 17 NOVEMBER 2026.
2. UNCONDITIONAL RELEASE
The legal team’s position is that his release will be unconditional, with no conditions attached to his release.
3. HIS DESTINATION AFTER RELEASE
Simon Ekpa is a Finnish national and has a home in Finland. Following his release, he will return to his home in Finland. Nothing has changed .
4. SIXTY (60) DAYS TO CHALLENGE THE CONVICTION
Following his Appeal court release, we have a period of sixty (60) days to pursue the appropriate legal process seeking to have the conviction quashed, in accordance with the applicable procedure under Finnish law.
5. APPEAL TO THE SUPREME COURT OF FINLAND
When SIMON EKPA is out and FREE,
the legal team intends to pursue the appropriate application before the Supreme Court of Finland to challenge the conviction and seek its quashing.
6. SPECIAL GROUNDS FOR QUASHING THE CONVICTION
We have identified special grounds upon which we intend to base our application to have the conviction quashed.
7. CONFIDENTIALITY OF OUR LEGAL STRATEGY
As a legal team, we have resolved to keep these special grounds confidential until the day the application is formally filed. This is a matter of legal strategy, and we shall not disclose the details prematurely.
8. READINESS FOR FURTHER DEVELOPMENTS
The legal team is fully prepared to address any legal or procedural matters that may arise in connection with Simon Ekpa’s release and the subsequent proceedings.

I consider this one of the greatest and most humiliating signs of a failed state to come out of Nigeria.
Terrorists reportedly playing around with medical equipment, obviously in one of the many enclaves they’ve captured in northern Nigeria. This truly calls for sober reflection.
Nigeria is literally handing the levers and instruments of power and leadership to these guys without them even having to put up a fight for it.
They have weapons, all sorts. They have money. They have financiers. They have power within and even collect taxes from supposed Nigerian citizens. What else is left? Where is the deterrence? What or who are they afraid of? Nothing! No one!
Right now, Nigerians are like a people hearing the sound of a speeding train approaching with horns blaring, and they’re just relaxing on its tracks, yawning away. God help us.

Cletus Ibeto has made a bold statement regarding the cement industry in Nigeria, asserting, “My cement was stronger, more durable, and significantly cheaper than Dangote’s. However, out of envy, Dangote influenced Obasanjo to unjustly shut down my factory.”
Ibeto claims that his cement was the most affordable globally, stating, “I was not competing with Dangote; I was competing with the international market. While China sold cement at ₦5,000, I offered mine at ₦4,000 to Nigerians. My vision was straightforward: to ensure that every Nigerian, regardless of their income, could eventually afford to build their own home.”
Currently, the price of cement in Nigeria is approximately ₦15,000, whereas it is only ₦10,000 in Ghana. Ibeto maintained, “This situation would not have arisen had my factory remained operational. Under my management, the price of cement would not have exceeded ₦7,000.”
He further accused Dangote of intentionally seeking to establish a monopoly: “He aimed to dominate the market and undermine the South-East, as the Igbos are the primary builders. That was the underlying agenda. I will continue to assert that if my factory were operational today, Nigerians would not be suffering under the heavy burden of soaring cement prices.”
