A 46 YEAR OLD MAN ARRESTED AND GOODS RECOVERED IN KENSINGTON @SAPoliceService Police in Johannesburg arrested a 46-year-old Malawian national following an intelligence driven operation conducted in Kensington. Police received information about a man who was allegedly in possession of goods suspected to have been stolen during a robbery in Johannesburg central, which included a Ford Ranger. The information was immediately operationalised, leading police to an address in Kensington, where a search of the premises was conducted. During the search, police recovered a Ford ranger allegedly involved in the robbery, along with five bales of jeans. Further investigation led police to a self storage facility where the suspected stolen goods were kept. Two storage units were searched, resulting in the recovery of 1,700 bales of jeans. The estimated value of the recovered goods is approximately R8 million. The suspect was immediately arrested, and police investigations in this case are continuing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged robbery and the recovered goods. Anyone with information about illegal activities taking place in and around their area is urged to contact the SAPS CrimeStop line on 08600 10111 or anonymously via the MySAPSApp.

As PM, I helped establish the Cancer Drugs Fund to support patients who were being denied lifesaving treatments. With dementia, we have reached a similar moment. After decades of waiting, we finally have treatments that can slow the progression of Alzheimer’s disease. The challenge now is to make sure patients have the opportunity to benefit from that progress. There is now a strong case for a dedicated Dementia Drugs Fund to help make that happen.
