In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.

A striking geographic disparity in the oncology workforce—this time looking at Board-Certified Oncology Pharmacists (BCOPs) across the U.S. BCOP density varies substantially by state, from 2.46 per 100K in South Dakota to 0.17 per 100K in Wyoming. Nevada is also among the lowest at 0.34 per 100K. Oncology workforce planning should extend beyond physicians. Pharmacists are an essential part of modern cancer care. #Oncology #BCOP #OncologyPharmacy #CancerCare #HealthcareWorkforce #HealthPolicy @DrPaulyDeSantis

With the first plane, people still thought, or hoped, that it was a crazy accident and people could be saved from the fire. When the second plane hit you could hear entire TV studio crews gasp loudly on air. That was when everyone instantly knew 9/11 was a terrorist attack.

On 9/11, two unarmed F-16 pilots from Andrews Air Force Base were ordered to stop Flight 93 before it reached Washington. 1st Lt. Heather “Lucky” Penney and Lt. Col. Marc Sasseville had no missiles - there wasn’t time to load them. Their plan was to ram the airliner: Sasseville into the cockpit, Penney into the tail. They launched around 10:30 a.m. Flight 93 had already gone down in Pennsylvania 25–30 minutes earlier after the passengers fought back. The two pilots never intercepted it. Most people know what the passengers did. Almost no one knows two fighter pilots were already in the air ready to die doing the same job.

Somebody, somewhere in NYC for whatever reason recorded the New York 1 morning news broadcast on Sept. 11, 2001. They wound up recording history. It starts at 8:30 a.m. ET. You get 15 minutes of news from the Before Times. Then the world changes. youtube.com/watch?v=FH9bvzeF…

there’s an Odyssey movie. Love it or hate it, the poem is still better. I built a free reader for it — Greek with facing English, tap any word for the grammar, every place mapped, the route animated, Flaxman’s engravings. Share and enjoy. johnhboyer-sys.github.io/hom…
