Been away from game dev for a long while. Feels damn good to be back working on a new project NOX CITY. #gamedev #indiedev

Watching fellow Christians cite Old Testament law to defend public executions is troubling. Those same laws prescribed death for adultery, blasphemy, and Sabbath violations. Are we advocating for those too? We need to ask ourselves: Are we interpreting Scripture through Jesus Christ?

As Christians, we’re called to be set apart from the world, not to mirror it. Jesus commanded us to love our enemies, pray for those who persecute us, and show mercy. These teachings matter most when they’re difficult to follow. We should never forget whose example we’re called to follow.

What’s stopping car companies from making these cars? I’d buy right now if I saw this on a dealer lot 😂

Damn.
No publisher. No team. Just 26 years of game dev experience poured into the game I’ve always wanted to make. This is Riftwalker.

If nobody could ever know how much of you went into the thing you made, would you still want to make it?

Part of why I’ve been thinking about this is AI. I’m using it heavily while making NOX CITY, and I know some people will probably decide that means I didn’t really make the game. That used to bother me a lot more. I’m starting to realize I have to make the game because I want it to exist, not because I need everyone to give me credit for it. I still care about recognition, but I don’t want that to become the reason I create.

Do you create things because of how it makes you feel, or do you create things to make people feel something about you?

I think the uncomfortable answer for me is both. I want to make things because I love how I feel after making them, but I’d be lying if I said recognition doesn’t matter too. I just want to make sure the second part doesn’t control the first.

Rainy morning + synthwave = great vibe.

All these anti-AI folks are in for a very rude awakening. Then again, maybe the pro-AI folks are too. The absolutists on both sides are probably going to have the hardest time with what comes next. #AI #LLMs

I went back and played Dick Tracy on the Genesis and immediately found something I wanted to steal for NOX CITY. The way it lets you fight enemies in the background while still moving through the foreground is such a cool idea. Old games are full of mechanics worth revisiting. #NOXCITY #GameDev #RetroGaming #DickTracy

I'm exploring the visual identity for #NOXCITY: heavy noir, mostly black/white/gray, rain, deep shadows, selective red, and neon. AI visual target, not gameplay. What catches your eye first? #IndieGameDev #Cyberpunk

Nothing says moral superiority like telling a stranger you hope they get hurt because they used AI concept art.

Bought The Question #8 (1987) looking for story inspiration for NOX CITY. It was exactly what I needed. One issue in and it’s already given me a central theme I want to explore in the game. Old comics are a gold mine. What old comics have influenced the way you think about story or character? #NOXCITY #TheQuestion #Comics

This game looks like a blast to play!
Amazing feedback on lighting! Most people preferred a stylized look with high saturation and clouds. Definitely gives it a more 90s Nintendo arcade racing vibe.
