I was 'scouted' back in 2015 after I delivered a presentation about periodization in esports. Periodization is essentially the relationship between intensity and volume within training cycles. Reading the article (exert below), it seems like there is some disconnect between what low intensity days should look like. "So we have a system where there [are] days that we have different intensities and we try to adjust. When we play an opponent that we think we don’t need that much intensity, [we] adjust to not be tired and be able to perform when it matters the most" Depending on the adjustments the intensity can be altered via changing on; - expectation setting - specific constraints - goal setting - pressure training If 'low intensity' days are an outcome of lowering effort then you are training to perform match day situations at a lower effort (reinforcing bad habits). Some speculation as I don't know what their adjustment is. You have to get creative in your training if you want to fully maximize the concept of periodization. - variations to in and out of game training - variations to the different mediums you teach the game - variations to who you scrim and how you scrim vs them - changes to how you approach scrimming at the beginning of the year vs bigger patch changes - how you include the addition of soloQ, one on one meetings, calculate relaxation and rest
