Chapter 7 bankruptcy is a liquidation bankruptcy that involves the sale of the company's assets to pay off creditors. This type of bankruptcy usually results in the closure of the business. An entity known as the stalking horse will enter a low bid for the available assets, forming a floor for bids from other buyers. Very possible that the only way to remove JK’s ownership of the LLC and make it available to other interested parties (companies) was to file Chapter 7, to sell the assets (IP) to another company and start a bussiness under a different name. It’s very much a possibility that this is being used to facilitate the sell of the companies assets to another buyer as well as continue to pay creditors money due while JK sits in jail and is prohibited by the courts to be directly involved with the managment of the company.
