Destitution is built-into the asylum system in the UK and we will not accept it. This work needs support from everyone. And that support takes many shapes. Donate today to help us provide safe, dignified accommodation to our guests. buff.ly/3nF9PW7

In this piece we demonstrate how "Once everyone has somewhere safe to stay, progress on accessing rights, and resolving complex immigration cases, is a lot more achievable". An important recognition of the work that @SafeInScotland and similar organisations are achieving 🏡

we need a new asylum system grounded in humanity not profit.
The chief executive officer of Mears Group – which delivers UK Government contacts including providing asylum accommodation in Scotland for the Home Office – took home £838,000 including bonuses last year.  theferret.scot/mears-ceo-pay…

There is a growing reliance on 'charity' among people experiencing poverty as a result of: ▫️ changes to the welfare system ▫️ cost of living crisis Modern charity exposes the injustice and inequality. But *never* exposes people, always putting their safety and dignity first.

NEW Nicola Sturgeon says the Scottish government has repeatedly requested detail of any independent investigation by the Home Office following deaths in asylum accommodation in Glasgow. It comes in response to a question from Green MSP @MaggieChapman on the escalating toll.

Rwanda transportation shows us access to justice is critical & folk need a safe place to stay so they can think clearly & talk freely - not a detention centre w no 📞 Since 2022 250+ men have stayed w us & been supported to have their claim reconsidered safeinscotland.com/ways-to-d…

Thinking about the terrified men, young and old, who are sitting in an immigration removal centre awaiting removal to Rwanda, a country they've never been to. May the people who dreamt up this plan never again know rest or joy.
