@SaschMayer, Saheed here—hope you’re doing well. I’m a big fan of @darth_na's work here and noticed he’s been pretty quiet for a while. I understand you’ve worked together at Arclite Solutions, so I wanted to very quickly check in and ask if he’s doing okay.

@SaschMayer, I tried reaching out via DM but couldn’t. Apologies if this feels intrusive—it’s just that Lyndon has been one of my teachers, and I’m genuinely concerned about his absence.

The Palestinian dilemma: Resist – and Israel will slaughter 100,000s of you as "terrorists". Don't resist – and Israeli settlers will beat you, while soldiers cut down your trees, bulldoze your home, and drive you off your land. Oh, and the Israeli army might kill you anyway.

🚨 Updated: The 5 Key AI Search vs Traditional Search Differences 👇 "AI search is exactly the same as traditional search" vs "Everything is different with AI vs traditional search". As usual, the best approach lies in the middle. On one end, saying "AI search is exactly the same as traditional search" ignores the significant shifts in behavior, and results presentation that AI search platforms have introduced. On the other, claiming "Everything is different with AI search" overlooks the foundational search principles that remain. Embracing that nuance, both what's different and what's still foundational, is key to adapting effectively. So what actually changes with AI search? Here are 5 areas of shifts so far: 1. Search Behavior 👩🏽‍💻 Traditional Search: Short, keyword based, one-off queries with high navigational intent 🤖 AI Search: Long, conversational based, multi-turn queries with high task oriented intent 2. Query Handling 👩🏽‍💻 Traditional Search: Single query match 🤖 AI Search: Query fan-out / Multiple sub-queries matches 3. Optimization Target 👩🏽‍💻 Traditional Search: Page Level Relevance 🤖 AI Search: Passage / Chunk Level Relevance 4. Authority & Popularity Signals 👩🏽‍💻 Traditional Search: Links and engagement based popularity at domain and page level 🤖 AI Search: Mentions / Citations & Entity Based Authority at Passage & Concept Level 5. Results Presentation 👩🏽‍💻 Traditional Search: Ranked List of Multiple Linked Pages 🤖 AI Search: Single synthesized answer with mentions and secondary links to sources Check them here: aleydasolis.com/en/ai-search…

Google AI Overviews are SO confused about what "GEO" even means, lol. Every time you ask, it gives a different answer. Sometimes even Google is included☠️, didn't realize Google is an "agency"

If only the SEO gurus on LinkedIn could read this—maybe we’d get a breather from all their “breakthrough” posts about using GEO and LLMO (whatever those buzz‑acronyms are supposed to be) that they claim are totally different from SEO. 😂.
Google's @methode said you don't need GEO, LLMO, etc - you just need SEO to show up in Google AI Overviews seroundtable.com/google-ai-o… via @suzukik also a neat photo from @saregamapal

A fab study that appears to show that AI content doesn’t hurt your Google rankings is doing the rounds on social media. Cue the stampede of businesses rushing to pump out hundreds of AI-generated articles faster than you can say “content at scale.” Hold your bloody horses. Publishers fund quality content. AI scrapes it. Then claims it made it. If we don’t fix the incentive system, the web collapses into a loop of regurgitated content with no original source left to copy.

🩱 🚒:: Traffic strongly tied to Sentiment? ::🚒 I'm not quite sure what Ross means by "now"? Sentiment is part of Brand, and tied with ORM. I even did a thread on this; xitter.cf/darth_na/status/146179… Brand awareness, recognition and perception have ALWAYS played a part. Though SEO isn't a traditional marketing channel, it functions under many of the same rules. When something is "trending" - you will often see an increase in impressions and traffic (sadly, this doesn't typically carry over to conversions/leads). When there's bad press, bad feelings etc., you will often see a drop in traffic (avoidance in the SERPs). You can see similar patterns in foot traffic in stores. Good = increased, Bad = decrease. It's one of the reasons you are meant to have Online Reputation Management contingencies, and have a couple of PR stunts ready to roll. (ORM isn't just about trying to push stuff down - it's also part of (real) DPR and mitigation etc.) But these things tend to be short lived (or the negative tends to decline over a short duration). And the size of the impact can/does vary ... and for "online", it tends to be "softer" in many cases. But, to help protect yourself, as well as having guardrails and SOPs, as well as having proper contingencies, one of the best things you can do... ... is own your audience! The more regular, direct traffic you have, the more direct communications (SMS/Email etc.), the better. These often show far less decline than other channels/platforms. #Brand #Sentiment #Marketing #ORM

5/* The impact of negative publicity varies - factors such as the offense size and relevance to the audience, the companies perceived value and size. Though larger companies/brands can weather larger storms - it can have consequences (share value etc.)

. 🚒:: This is NOT how you launch a site! ::🚒 Here's the summary: 1) Long-tail keywords 2) AI keyword research 3) Rinse and repeat (2) 4) Target the RIGHT keywords (repeat (1)) 5) Create content that ranks (not even a point) 6) Hybrid AI Content 7) For each section (part of (6)) 8) Expert Persona Strategy (Build Links) 9) Recap of the (4 actual) points above Sorry - but that's just NOT going to cut it! . :: No Priority New business, new site - you need Money! You should focus on the products/services (or stories/topics) that are most likely to give you the most profit (higher margins, greatest conversion probability (or CTR/Time on Page etc.). :: Keyword Research? I keep seeing people put KR at the start of processes. In most cases (esp. for #StartUps and #NewSites), this is Wrong! You shouldn't need KR for ideation. You simply produce content backwards for the funnel. Start with (prioritised) Product/Service (/Story/Topic) - then produce immediately supporting content that covers the funnel/journey stage before conversion (comparisons, purchase guides, tech/spec etc.). Then do the next set of supporting content (What is {problem}, How to solve {problem} etc.). KR should be done - but it's to help you find: a) What language/terms your prospects use b) What specific phrasing you are likely to be able to achieve a good ranking for (and note the next couple of steps that you can target later). :: Internal Links One of the most influential bits of on-site (and on-page) SEO, and (unsurprisingly) - it's completely missing! The Content Stack you build - is a collection of tightly related pages, that should naturally interlink. And not just sequentially/linearly, but cross-wise too (if you have alternative/similar P/S/S/T, then you can link sideways, diagonally etc.). :: Inbound Links The very first set of links you should be getting, are self-prescribed ones. You want to be in relevant directors (local, industry etc.). (Do Not simply copy content from your site, do Not put yourself in dozens - original descriptions, accurate details, in 1 or 2 of the best/most popular ones, and 1 or 2 in lesser ones - that's it!) Then there's the Social links (Web 2.0 *rolls-eyes*). You should have profiles on the most popular platforms (Fb, LI, T/X etc.). And as part of ORM and Brand-protection, you should be getting profiles on other platforms to (even if you don't plan on using them). You don't have to be "active" - you just secure your name, and link back to your site. Same goes for "Community" and Q&A sites/platforms. And - ideally - these should be secured BEFORE you launch the site (you can then announce the launch, find some folk to come to the pre-launch review and test/review etc.). :: Content Creation Okay - so the "AI" bit ... The term that these people seem to not use ... ... is "brief". You should supply the AI a brief. What the purpose of the piece is (for the business). What the audience should get from it. Who the audience(s) is/are (level, demo etc.). The nature/format of the piece (guide, explainer etc.). Style/Tone. Key points to make. etc. The more specific and constraining the brief - the better and more aligned the output will be. (and yes, as you want it for SEs/LLMs as well as people - you want to specify the Query/Target term (keyword).) First step - you give it the input, and ask it to provide you a list of additional key points, important aspects, things of note etc. Second step - re-use the brief, add all the key points, and ask it to generate an outline, grouping the points etc. (If you have a specific flow/pattern, provide it that as an example. If there's a particular page to emulate/follow, give it that. And remember, some tools allow file uploads, and/or URLs). Third step - re-use the brief, and ask it to review the structure. Ask it to ensure it's not missed anything out, that it's not suggesting made up stuff etc. Fourth step - re-use the brief, and ask it to provide a number of versions of the section headings. Fifth step - you have a choice. You can proceed to manually write out each section, or you can get the AI to help. If you use the LLM to help - ask it to write out a rough draft of each section, separately/one at a time. Give it the brief, the heading you like, and the key-points (validated). Instruct it to only use real data/information. If you are providing resources, instruct it to only use that material. Sixth step - you need to conclude/wrap-up. You can do it manually, or ask the LLM to help, or do it for you (again: brief, existing work, and specific part to produce for it). Seventh step - you now do the introduction/summary. Same as the conclusion really - but specify you want a strong led/pitch/description etc. that makes it clear to a reader what they will get from the piece. Eighth step - review the initial draft. Read through it (aloud often helps). Remove junk terms/phrases. Replace odd words/phrasing with your own. Double check any/all facts/figures/stats/quotes etc. . See - nothing complicated. Just thoroughness and a focus on actual business, not chasing SEs! #SEO #LLMs #ContentCreation
