Aditi's work showing distal CA1 can precess and show theta dynamics comparable to proximal CA1 is finally published in Hippocampus:

Together, these papers challenge the notion that distal CA1 is inherently less spatial and correspondingly having weaker theta oscillatory dynamics than proximal CA1 due to the differential projection from LEC and MEC to these areas.

Aditi's work shows how non-theta modulated, non- spatial inputs can interact with spatial and theta modulated inputs to generate accelerating theta phase precession seen in biological data.
Indraja's work shows how spatial representation in the hippocampus changes as a function of the size of the arena.
Both of them are senior students who will be submitting their PhD theses soon. Thanks to visa issues, they can't attend the conference physically.
