Sharing this excellent review now out from postdoc Sarah McLarnon! Lots of useful info on 3D imaging, quantification of imaging data, and how this has been applied to the kidney. #FluorescenceFriday figure with our own imaging data! sciencedirect.com/science/ar…

Intermediate mesoderm isn't the sole contributor to nephrons in zebrafish-new manuscript out showing somites are a source of nephron progenitors! Led by Alan Davidson's group. Many fun discussions were had-grateful for the inclusion! nature.com/articles/s41467-0…

For #FluorescenceFriday sharing the fantastic work of postdoc Sarah McLarnon! A follow up to our '23 Development paper where we asked: Does precise vascular patterning matter for function and what happens after ischemic injury? The results were surprising! journals.physiology.org/doi/…
So excited to see @P_NGUETTA manuscript officially published! 🎉 He has put in an enormous amount of work to detail kidney innervation @l_obrien_lab

Congrats to newly minted PhD Matt Stevenson! A stellar defense and so well deserved. He was the first grad student to join my lab. It was an honor to be his mentor and I look forward to all the amazing accomplishments yet to come in his postdoc and beyond!
Thank you @WEHsectionAPS for inviting me to share our work at Data Diuresis!
Congratulations Data Diuresis winner! Fantastic talk on “Piezo2 in kidney development and physiology” by
Sarah McLamon, PhD @APSPhysiology #APS2024!
Stop by the WEH and Renal poster sessions to learn more about renal innervation from our lab! Poster boards 812, 865, & 263 @P_NGUETTA @l_obrien_lab
Congrats to @P_NGUETTA from @l_obrien_lab for receiving the renal recognition award at his first #APS2024 @APSPhysiology
Fantastic talk from @desmondmoronge on pregnancy after AKI in the Advanced in Renal Physiology session! @APSPhysiology

This review also highlights the hypotheses surrounding the development of RBC trapping as well as summarizes the newest data from the @PaulMOConnor1 lab regarding it's initiation
Our most recent paper investigating the mechanisms of RBC trapping on ischemic injury from the O'Connor lab is out now in the newest issue of Function! @PaulMOConnor1

Our new paper investigating mechanisms of RBC trapping in ischemic AKI! @APS_Function
The textbooks suggest kidney injury in ischemic AKI is due to medullary hypoxia. Our new paper challenges this hypothesis. Our data suggest injury is secondary to RBC tapping and toxic injury from the extravasation of blood. academic.oup.com/function/ad…
