ALT Deeper monsoon moisture returns next week on Monday, first in eastern areas of the state before expanding into central and western areas Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Most areas of northern and central New Mexico are shown to receive at least a tenth of an inch of rain between Monday and Friday with the mountains receiving one half to one and one half inches of rainfall.

ALT Monsoon moisture trends lower this weekend with lower precipitation chances overall. However, the threat of slow moving thunderstorms developing near or over the Ruidoso area burn scars continues a moderate risk of burn scar flash flooding. The maps of northern and central New Mexico indicate showers and thunderstorms will tend to stay along and just east of the central mountain chain as well as over the southwestern mountains.
