Oil has continued to move higher and threaten the $100/bbl threshold in early trading this week. Ongoing Middle East fighting and the battle with Canada over tariffs have kept pressure on rates as inflationary concerns remain a hot topic. Treasuries are holding in a range above 4.76% in 10's, after topping 4.81% in early trading. Heavy corporate issuance this week can add some volatility to rates as rate-lock hedging takes place and is eventually unwound once deals are priced. Technical and fundamental factors are both suggestive of higher yields ahead of CPI/PPI to be released this week. Global central banks are all leaning towards rate hikes as Fed Funds Futures price around 60% chance for the Fed to boost rates by 25 bps next week. The curve has continued to flatten with 2's at 4.36%... clearly indicative that the front-end of the curve is factoring in higher short-term rates. TYZ Futures... range is 107-08 to 107-28. Trend and 50-Day SMA still holding for lower prices. #rates #inflation #bonds #economy
