Saul was a man who strongly opposed the followers of Jesus. He travelled to Damascus with the intention of arresting Christians and bringing them back to Jerusalem. But on the road, a bright light from heaven suddenly surrounded him. Saul fell to the ground and heard the voice of Jesus asking, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” Saul became blind and was led into Damascus, where he spent three days without sight. God then spoke to a disciple named Ananias and instructed him to visit Saul. Although Ananias was afraid because of Saul’s reputation, he obeyed God. He laid his hands on Sauland Saul regained his sight. From that moment, Saul’s life changed. He began preaching that Jesus is the Son of God. The man who once persecuted Christians became one of the most devoted messengers of the gospel, later known as the apostle Paul. “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes.” Romans 1:16 This reminds us that no one is beyond the reach of God’s grace. Saul’s past did not prevent God from giving him a new purpose. God can change a heart, redirect a life and use even the person others least expect to accomplish something meaningful. Never assume that someone’s past determines their future. When God transforms a life, even the greatest mistakes can become part of a testimony that brings hope to others.
