So happy that @Iyr_Adi has written this amazing book, on an incredible 2023 World Cup that India almost won, and on what cricket means to Indians, Gully by Gully.
(The book also has a few pages on my failed cricketing career!)

Ratan Tata, truly an icon, Om Shanti 🙏🏽
JN dreamt, Dorab built, Nowroji consolidated, JRD imagined and Ratan globalized.
(Among previous Tata group Chairmen carrying the Tata surname, JN and Dorab lay in cemeteries in UK, JRD in France, wonder where Ratan ji will be)

Important piece by Prof @ChinmayTumbe in @livemint on possible migration patterns in India - both internal and external - based on recent demographic changes.
Juxtaposed with this is the chart recently shared by @Rainmaker1973 on the per woman birth rate in various states in India. Replacement rate is considered 2.1 children per woman and as can be seen now most of India barring UP, Bihar, Jharkhand and a couple of smaller States is below replacement rate - huge change in the last 20 years.
One of the things that stood out for me in the analysis was that if the delimitation of constituencies/ redrawing of Lok Sabha seats happens after some years, the South may not lose out that much as by then it will have a large number of migrants from other regions.
Over time internal migration adds up!
Remember how the demographic profile of Delhi has changed over the last few decades. Now 35-40% of the Delhi electorate is from Bihar and eastern UP, thanks to internal migrations.
As I have said before most things change slowly but really add up over the decades.

My piece in today's Mint Special Issue on thinking about the next 25 years, on migration.
In a week where Karnataka just passed a brazenly anti-constitutional job-reservation-for-locals policy.

Dr. Amrita Roy joins an interesting academic lineage that goes all the way to Taussig in 1883.
And a lot of economic history in this academic lineage, that passed on to her as well!
