Get your flu shot, all you "I'm invincible" types. And your COVID shot while you're there.
PSA. Flu season is starting very early this year. WW numbers aren't very high yet, but they are a couple of months ahead of schedule just about everywhere. Almost entirely H1N1. If you are getting a flu shot, don't put it off.

Meaning someone who would surrender.
Q: Zelenskyy says you're on the wrong side of history TRUMP: What'd you say? Q: Zelenskyy says you're on the wrong side of history TRUMP: Zelenskyy doesn't know what he's talking about. Zelenskyy is a man that should've had this war settled a long time ago. It's time for somebody else to negotiate on behalf of Ukraine

The GOP has long lost the plot. Zelensky is the President of Ukraine. Trump and Putin and what ever oligarchs are "on our side" quite literally don't get to decide. What a reprehensible position. @GOP you're a disgrace.
🚨 BREAKING: Tuberville: "Zelensky will play hardball, but you know what? He's not even a player in the game. Putin, President Trump, and the people on our side will make the final decision about Ukraine's future."
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
This clip is from Tuberville's March 3, 2025 Newsmax interview, not breaking. He said Europe put less than $100B in Ukraine aid. Per Kiel Institute, Europe's total aid was similar or higher then, and has since surpassed the US significantly. thehill.com/homenews/senat… kielinstitut.de/research/topic…

Anyone who doesn’t see what’s happening as a deliberate strategy to side with America’s enemy and against Ukraine so Trump can illegally profit from a corrupt deal isn’t paying attention. The evidence is overwhelming and irrefutable.
🚨 NEW: U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has yet to approve the transfer of a "significant" batch of Patriot interceptors for Ukraine, sources say. "It's hard to call this a 'monthly supply,' because there's no set amount of how much you need for a month," a senior Ukrainian official says. "But it's significant." Some in Kyiv suspect Washington is holding the missiles back on purpose to pressure Ukraine, as Russia keeps striking Ukrainian cities. With @JimmySecUK kyivindependent.com/its-sign…

🎯 Russia is a failed nation, a terror state, a mafia pretending to be a country, a people infected with an imperial virus, a gas station with nukes that barely has any gas left, a Chinese vassal that needs perpetual war to stay intact. It should be quarantined, not elevated.

Well this is a read. We've suspected this, but still, wow. "Moreover the agency had been directed not to alert the voting machine company if it uncovered flaws, contrary to its standard practices." Tell the White House, but not the company, not election administrators...
New: DHS appointees made an unusual request of CISA, its agency that protects election systems: Secretly acquire a voting machine and hack it. Though not acted on, the request shows how the Trump administration has tried to use CISA for its own ends. propub.li/4zL7awx

An American president would tell Putin to fuck off. An American president would tell Putin to get the fuck out of Ukraine. An American president would stand with Ukraine. Trump however is not an American president. He works for Putin. So he’ll do what Putin tells him to do.👇

"A world in which the White House is allied to the Kremlin was, until now, the stuff of paranoid fiction. Manchurian candidates and red presidents were fantasies, dark tales that Americans told themselves, like ghost stories around a campfire. But this alliance now exists."
“Trump has now abandoned pretense and is openly aiding the Kremlin in its war against a friend and partner of the U.S. The American commander in chief has abandoned the Western order, the most successful—and powerful—security arrangement in human history” theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/1…

The supposed plan for East Potomac Park is an absolute tragedy for so many that call our nation’s capital home. For 130 years, East Potomac has served every kind of American. Golfers, cyclists, runners, birdwatchers, walkers, picnickers, anyone who just wants to see the cherry blossoms. This plan is a betrayal of the public, of the National Park Service, and of the very act that established this land to be “forever held and used as a park for the recreation and pleasure of the people.” Ask yourself who a public muni golf course is actually meant to serve. East Potomac was built in direct response to the elitism of golf, a course anyone could walk onto and play, at a time when golf in America belonged almost entirely to the wealthy. Now the government wants to turn it back into exactly that. The very thing this course was built to stand against. This golf escapade is compounded by the fact that golf is about to become the only purpose of this entire peninsula. Over 130 years, East Potomac expanded, not narrowed, who and what it served. The road came. The playground came. The mini golf course came. The cherry blossoms were planted and became part of the city’s identity. All of it added, piece by piece, to widen who this park belonged to. Now it’s all being wiped out in one fell swoop, for a single use, by a single man. Donald Trump already owns 16 golf courses. He doesn’t need a 17th. Especially not one carved out of 130 years of public land to chase his own personal trophy. The heart of this issue really is not about golf. It is about who owns our public lands in America. The National Park Service’s mandate is "...to conserve the scenery and the natural and historic objects and the wildlife therein and to provide for the enjoyment of the same in such manner and by such means as will leave them unimpaired for the enjoyment of future generations." Not for the enjoyment of one man’s ego. For future generations. Public land doesn’t become private property just because the person in office wants it to be. That’s the whole point of calling it public.

Malign force and an abject policy failure on so many levels.
Tech billionaires are pulling away from the rest of the ultra-rich. The world’s ~100 tech billionaires added a record $845 billion through September, per Bloomberg, driven by the AI boom. Their combined fortune: $4.6 trillion. Every other billionaire combined? Down $62 billion. Elon Musk alone gained $310 billion, about 40% of the entire index’s increase.

We still have burn bans in place here in Puget Sound. It's dry.
You might have noticed that the rainy season is off to a slow start. In 81 years of records, it's Seattle's (Sea-Tac) 8th driest start for October thus far. If we stay dry through Wednesday as expected, we'll climb to 3rd. #wawx

Trump petulantly railing against the world like a desperate little mob boss and then wondering why no one outside his sycophantic party will bend a knee. The more he threatens our allies, the faster they will move away from American tech. Massive security risk for everybody.

And all he expects is for Ukraine to surrender to make it happen. This American stands, always, with Ukraine. May we be forgiven for letting this compromised wretch into the the White House.
Trump: "My decision on Russia is a very simple one. I am in the process of negotiating Peace in the war between Russia and Ukraine, and don’t want to do anything that will drive, foolishly, Russia away from the bargaining table. Great progress is being made, and that includes current hostage negotiations! Signing that document at this time will do that, and I can sign it later, or any time that I want! Perhaps more importantly, Russia is doing very little, if anything, to help the Islamic Republic of Iran, compared to what they could be doing, and I want to keep it that way, and will, unless stupid people get in the way. Lastly, Zelenskyy is using Diesel Refineries in Russia as a target, knowing that these attacks are seriously hurting the world diesel markets, including those in the United States. Farmers, ranchers, and businesses of all kinds are suffering greatly from this, but Russia is, nevertheless, sending, at a low price, millions of barrels of diesel to the World. Zelenskyy doesn’t care, and frankly, with all of the money that Europe is famously giving him, and that Crooked Joe Biden gave him in the past, he doesn’t want to end this war, and probably never did. He could have made a better deal two years ago than he can now. His country is in shambles, a large portion of his land is lost, his oceans and seas are gone, and his male population is low, wounded, and/or dead. I WANT THIS WAR END! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP"

Legitimate protest by people with legitimate concerns looks to have been co-opted by bad actors in France and elsewhere. Months of unrelenting heat, under-investment in public infrastructure, affordability, the rise in malign actors shaping politics+perception, explosive mix.

It is a basic principle of American democracy that the government can’t selectively target individuals simply because of their political beliefs or what they say. But that’s exactly what the Trump Administration is doing to Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota. To understand why this is so appalling, it’s important to know the facts. Congresswoman Omar came to this country with her father when she was 12 years old. Five years later, her father became a naturalized citizen. If Ilhan had been 18 at the time, she would have had to apply for citizenship separately. But because she was 17, she became a naturalized citizen automatically. Congresswoman Omar went on to graduate from college, work as a community organizer, become the first Somali-American legislator elected to public office in the U.S., and win a seat in Congress. There, she has been one of the Trump Administration’s fiercest critics, which has led the president to repeatedly single her out as someone who he believes does not belong in this country. Now the Administration is actively trying to deport Congresswoman Omar, seemingly based solely on the unsubstantiated theory that she was actually 18 when her father was naturalized, and therefore is not a citizen. Federal agents have raided her home, confiscated personal records, and seized her phone — all to try and uncover a nonexistent smoking gun from 20 years ago that will somehow make their case. Think about that. The full weight of the federal government is being brought down on a law-abiding elected official because she has dared to criticize the president. And it’s not the first time this has happened. Under President Trump, the Justice Department has repeatedly gone after those he considers his political enemies — from the Attorney General of New York, to the former head of the FBI, to members of the Federal Reserve. In those cases, the prosecutions either stalled or were dismissed for having no basis in law, and the same is likely to happen in this case. But not before Congresswoman Omar’s life has been turned upside down, her legal bills have piled up, and she’s been forced to spend time fighting unsubstantiated charges instead of serving the people of Minnesota. The fact that any president, or any administration, is willing to engage in such transparent efforts to intimidate someone should outrage all Americans, regardless of how they feel about Congresswoman Omar’s political views. Because if this becomes the new normal, there’s no reason to believe it will stop with her — or that future presidents, in either party, won’t do the same.
