Receiving a "Bad Review" @edfringe a 🧵
1/9 It's upsetting- especially if the reviewer is a student, but get curious- is there any validity?
2/ Is your show divisive- are you tackling social/political issues? They may not have agreed with your stance.
3/ It's okay to disagree
7/ a reviewer could mean well- but the approach lacked tact, sensitivity, or awareness.
8/ Does your work involve vulnerability? Not everyone is ready for work that is raw/vulnerable. it can be seen as shocking- how dare they- if they haven't embraced that within themselves.
9/ 9 overall- take every review- even the good ones- as an opportunity to keep going and growing- obviously there's a moment when we want to get mad, defend our work- but the best revenge is to keep going. #edfringe #unleashyourfringe

TWO SHOWS LEFT- what I am feeling after a month at @edfringe ? A 🧵
1- disappointment- didn't meet my marketing goals-and yet invested in PR and marketing
2- unimaginable joy for sharing my story, my passion, and getting to do that every day
5/merging spiritual with the real/physical needs. Yes coming the fringe can blow your soul/heart wide open, but there are real world consequences of not meeting basic needs- like financially- from a production standpoint is a loss- we did not break even
6/6 Allowing myself to feel everything and know its valid to be both grateful and angry at the same time- I'm still proud at the end of the day- #edfringe #unleashyourfringe
It occurred to me that no one benefits from you "holding back" and not sharing your talent- just do it- perform from the heart- that's what connects with other people- I've carried that knowing for a long time- and I've finally taken my own advice. #edfringe #unleashyourfringe
It's hard to put into words - yet- the transformation that occurs during a month @edfringe - I've personally reclaimed parts of myself - and I've allowed myself to accept that I love performing and I can belong- I've let the theater claim me, and I hope this is a beginning.
