In the first 8 months of the #SeyCCAT lethrinid project only 7 specimens of Yellowlip emperor (Lethrinus xanthochilus) were recored and all of those were from the Amirantes. Very interesting therefore to record two young specimens in the Mahe nearshore trap catch this weekend.

A very rare component of the Seychelles catch. The eightbar grouper (Hyporthodus octofasciatus), Only the second specimen I have seen in 14 years! English River market (22/08/26).

The sky emperor (Lethrinus mahsena) - "madanm beri" - though relatively common in the local catch is listed as endangered on the IUCN red list, it is important therefore that we ascertain its status here. #SeyCCAT establishing a baseline for the Seychelles lethrinid fishery.
