As I’m finishing university soon, I’ll be leaving @SSSLeeds.
It’s been a great few years mobilising students to support staff.
We’ve had plenty of successes, including lobbying LUU to support strike action.
I’m sure students will keep up the fight for a fairer HE system. ✊

Very sad to hear that @Jonathan_M_Dean has passed away.
I fondly remember his talk on the UCU at a @SSSLeeds event when I first arrived in Leeds.
His pieces on left wing politics were very interesting, and I’m forever grateful for his feedback as part of my PhD transfer panel.
We are deeply saddened to share the news of the untimely passing of Jonathan Dean – a dear colleague, friend, and cherished member of our community. We've collected some heartfelt tributes from his colleagues. psapopulism.org/blog/news/jo…
We are very saddened to hear this.
Jonathan’s work on left politics, populism, and feminism will always hold importance.
Jonathan was also a UCU activist who always valued student-staff solidarity.
We send our condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and students

Don’t remember seeing the @UniversityLeeds ‘announcing’ this… but great news that they are no longer banking with climate-wrecking @BarclaysUK.
Shout out to the long running @PandPLeeds and more recent UoL @DivestBarclays campaigns for making this happen! ✊
🚨 Major news 🚨 @UniversityLeeds have announced they are leaving @BarclaysUK – Europe's biggest funder of fossil fuels - and @Cambridge_Uni may be about to follow them 👀

It’s been great working on the LSSS committee this year, first as the Trade Union and Society Liaison Officer, and now as the General Secretary.
We’ve had a lot of achievements this year. I’m looking forward to continuing such success in 2024.

It has been an amazing year for LSSS. We extend our thanks to all those that have got involved, all our committee members, and all the university staff that we have working with.
We will always support our unions and our staff. Now more than ever, solidarity is essential.
