"I am acutely aware that my own family had not had the means to fund my @NottsHigh education. My father was a primary school teacher & my mother a housewife"

We love seeing heads of educational institutions deem access to books as "essential". 👏🏼
These #TuesdayThoughts from @Edgehill Vice Chancellor, Dr John Cater, stress the opportunities that books can unlock.
Libraries provide this access, which is why they're so important. 💜

You can't help respecting anybody who can spell TUESDAY, even if he doesn't spell it right; but spelling isn't everything. There are days when spelling Tuesday simply doesn't count. ~A.A. Milne #TuesdayThoughts

We're deeply saddened by the loss of Benjamin Zephaniah, a pioneering Dub Poet and Author whose energy, vibe, and unapologetic work paved the way for Black British Writers. We're forever grateful for his contributions and commitment. He’s legacy will live on forever.

I put 9 long, hard years of my life into writing TYGER because I believe children's books are the most important books of all. So it was beyond incredible to see it win Children's Book Of The Year at the #BritishBookAwards. Thank you @thebookseller @theweekjunior & the judges!!!
Congratulations to TYGER by @whatSFSaid, illustrated by @DaveMcKean, winner of Book of the Year: Children's Fiction (supported by @theweekjunior)! All the judges agreed that the book already "felt like a classic" @DFB_storyhouse #BritishBookAwards #Nibbies

ALT A copy of the book Tyger by S F Said, illustrated by Dave McKean, on a wooden table standing next to a British Book Awards prize in the shape of a pen nib. Against a black background is a pile of books that is slightly blurred. White text at the top reads The British Book Awards, Winner, Book of the Year - Children's Fiction
