Hon. Ephraim Nekongo supports the Petroleum (Exploration and Production) Amendment Bill, 2025 | WATCH🎥 In his contribution during the National Assembly debate on Tuesday, 06 October 2026, the Secretary of the SWAPO Party Youth League rose in firm support of the Bill, describing it as essential to modernise Namibia’s petroleum framework, which is more than three decades old. He noted that major offshore discoveries since 2022 have transformed the sector from largely exploratory activity into one of strategic national importance — highly technical, capital-intensive and spanning licensing, environmental protection, marine resources, infrastructure, taxation, local content, health and safety, and national economic planning. A central proposal is the creation of an Upstream Petroleum Unit in the Office of the President. The Secretary stressed that this is an institutional arrangement for strategic coordination across multiple government functions, not a transfer of operational control or personal ownership of resources to the President. Day-to-day technical and regulatory work will be carried out by suitably qualified professionals (Director-General and Deputy Director-General), operating strictly within the Constitution, the Petroleum (Exploration and Production) Act and other applicable laws. #SPYLOnTheMove🔵🔴🟢

Dr. Neporo, the SWAPO Party Youth League district secretary for Walvis Bay-Urban, on his academic milestone, graduating with a doctor of philosophy (PhD) in science education from the Rhodes University of South Africa, after successfully defending his thesis entitled: "Unlocking the Understanding of Saponification” Cde. Dr. Neporo is a science teacher by profession and a part-time Educational Research Lecturer.

GRADUATION SEASON ☺️🎓 SPYL wishes to congratulate member of its Central Committee, Cde. Taddeus Shithigona on his academic achievement, graduating with a Postgraduate Certificate in Management Development (NQF 7) from the NUST’s HAROLD PUPKEWITZ GRADUATE SCHOOL OF BUSINESS (HP-GSB). 🎓Cde. Shithigona also hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the same University. We equally wish to congratulate all graduants on their respective academic milestones. Education remain a solid foundation upon which our country continue to rely on, for meaningful development.

Secretary General of Hon.Sophia Shaningwa shares emotional moments at the final resting place of the late Hon. James Uerikua. Moments ago, she remained at the graveside until the very end, ensuring his final resting place reflects the dignity and honour of the courageous leader he was. In a deeply moving tribute, she described him as one of her best soldie“a bazooka I could always rely on” highlighting the unwavering loyalty and strength he carried throughout his service. Her words reflect a profound loss, not only to the Party, but to the nation. A true and dependable soldier laid to rest.

SWAPO Party Secretary General, Cde. Sophia Shaningwa, offered words of comfort to the bereaved family of the late Hon. James Uerikua in Otjiserandu. In this moment of profound loss, SG reminded the family that they do not grieve alone. The nation stands with them, holding them in strength and solidarity. As we honour his life of distinguished service, may his legacy be a source of comfort, and may his unwavering dedication continue to light the path for generations to come.
