ALT SPLC logo We are living through a moment that demands leadership. This agreement is leadership in action. It demonstrates the power of trust, solidarity, and shared purpose at the Southern Poverty Law Center. We are ready for the fight ahead. This agreement is a testament to the power of collective bargaining, providing better protections and well-deserved recognition for the workers who drive the SPLC's impact across the South and beyond.

ALT SPLC union logo The workers of the SPLC have ratified a new collective bargaining agreement with the SPLC's management after nine months of negotiations. This is the second contract the SPLC Union has ratified since its formation in 2019, and it includes multiple new pro-labor provisions that will contribute to the organization's health and resilience during a time when the work of the SPLC's line staff is more crucial than ever.

ALT SPLC Union logo Of the many wins for the 220 unionized workers at the SPLC, this contract includes: • continued remote work flexibility • an additional four weeks of parental leave • significant wage increases, particularly for the lowest-paid employees • Union-informed vetting and planning process in the event of potential layoffs • worker protections and responsible limitations related to artificial intelligence in the workplace • a plan to explore options for improving the ethical footprint of retirement investments and more!

ALT SPLC Union logo Our first contract dramatically improved pay and benefits at the SPLC. This contract takes it a step further by providing additional protections and responding to the threats that our members face today.

ALT SPLC Union logo After mass layoffs in 2024, SPLC's leaders had a lot of work to do in restoring our members' sense of security and dignity. And they still have a ways to go on that front. But we're sincere in our belief that the organization and its work truly benefit when staff wellbeing is a priority, and management responded to that sincerity during the bargaining process.

ALT Textured pink background with a light pink rounded square in the center. Inside, green text is at the top in an arch that reads: ASAN Staff is Uniting to Form the Autistic Self Advocacy Union! There is a picture of 11 faces with a zoom background that has the ASAU logo. Text reads: We organized as part of the Pacific Media Workers Guild, a local chapter of The NewsGuild-Communication Workers of America (TNG-CWA Local 39521). Today, we have officially asked management to voluntarily recognize our union. We hope they choose to do so soon.

ALT A statement from The Washington Post Guild: We vehemently condemn The Washington Post’s firing of dozens of valued employees today, just days into the new year and at a time when the company is actively growing. It is especially disturbing that Post CEO, Will Lewis, has not directly addressed his employees in a whopping 230 days — during which tumult and turnover have driven many of our highest-profile colleagues to other companies and new policies have been implemented with little explanation. The diligent, talented workers that make The Post every day should not bear the consequences of poor decisions made by Post executives. They deserve better. The Post deserves better. We demand leaders do the right thing: address workers during this time of upheaval and stop punishing hardworking Post employees for the decisions made far above their heads.
