🇺🇸 KC 9/11 Memorial Stairclimb
Firefighters Cravens and Reiter represented @SPFPD as they climbed 110 floors in remembrance of the firefighters that were lost on September 11th 25 years ago.
Your @SPFPD crews were standing by this past weekend for the #JeremyKatzenbergerMemorialTriathlon just in case. While doing so we also helped keep competitors hydrated.
Not your Typical Rescue: Yesterday afternoon the Crew on Truck 63 were called to help a citizen in removing their pet Guinea Pig that had found its way into one of the seats of their car. We are happy to report that the Guinea Pig is doing just fine.
Parkville Days is this weekend! Crews will be rotating through the park on Saturday from 2 to 8. Make sure you stop by and say hi and see the trucks!
Today we pause to remember Battalion Chief Jon Messick. In 2017 we lost Battalion Chief Messick to his fight with Occupational Cancer.
This year at Parkville Days the Southern Platte Fire Protection District will be partnering with MDA and their Fill the Boot Campaign. We encourage anyone to stop by and talk with your firefighters that weekend and donate if you feel compelled to.
Starting at 8 AM today Squad 63 was placed in service out running out of Station 3. It will be staffed and serving the community Monday through Friday from 8 to 5.
The Flood of 1993 caused significant damage to much of Down Town Parkville. Including Station #1. The station was gutted after the flood damage and needed rehabbed .
July 2012- Southern Platte Fire Protection District partnered full-time with Kansas City Fire Department Communication Center to provide emergency and non-emergency dispatching communications. The entire fleet was changed to 60 series identification.
The Southern Platte Fire Protection District is seeking eligible candidates to fill one opening. To be considered for this position a completed application must be submitted by July 17th, 2026 at 5:00 pm. See the attached flyer for additional information.
As we prepare to celebrate the 250th birthday of our nation the Southern Platte Fire District wants to remind you to celebrate safely. Your firefighters always love to meet our community they just prefer it to be with all of your limbs attached.
Station Spotlight: Station 3 is located in the central part of the Fire District and is home to Car 65, Truck 63 and Tanker 63. It is staffed 24 hours a day by one Battalion Chief, one Company Officer and two to three Firefighters.
Retirement Announcement: The Southern Platte Fire Protection District would like to thank Captain Brian Main for 27 years of dedicated service.
At 7 AM tomorrow Capt. Main will hang up his gear for a final time marking the end of an accomplished and distinguished career.
Station Spotlight: Station 1 is located in the heart of Downtown Parkville as a prominent fixture seen as you come into town along 9 Highway. It is staffed daily by one Company Officer and two Firefighters along with Pumper 61, Brush 61, Boat 61 and SRU 61.
ALT Pumper 61 is the first in Pumper for all of downtown Parkville and much of the 9 HWY corridor in our district. Also providing auto aide for KCFD and mutual aide for Riverside when called upon.
ALT The Fire District is filled with different bodies of water making water rescue a priority for response capabilities. The largest being the Missouri River. Utilizing the English Landing Park Boat ramp Boat 61 is able to make quick access to the river. The fire district is responsible for water rescues along the river from Riverside to the Leavenworth Bridge.
The Southern Platte Fire Protection District wishes everyone a fun and safe Memorial Day today, while we remember the sacrifice made in service to our country. We also would like to thank the group who took the time to honor those we have lost.

The Southern Platte Fire Protection District sends our condolences to the Lenexa Fire Department as they face the tragedy of losing one of their own.
