When Clementine arrived at SPCA Cincinnati, her condition was critical. She was severely anemic, and our medical team discovered that she had a deceased kitten inside of her that her body was unable to deliver. Before surgery could even be an option, Clementine needed blood - and fast. That’s when another cat in our care became part of her story. 🥹 Thanks to a lifesaving blood donation from one of our own adoptable cats, Clementine was stabilized enough for our veterinary team to perform surgery and remove the kitten. And Clementine made it. ❤️ This is the side of animal sheltering you may not always see. Behind every adoption photo are veterinary teams, shelter staff, volunteers and sometimes even other animals doing everything possible to give a pet another chance. Today, Clementine’s story gets to continue because a team refused to give up on her - and because one very special shelter cat unknowingly became a hero. And the best part? Her lifesaving donor is still waiting for a forever home of their own. 🥹 Our Medical Monday series, sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim, gives us the opportunity to take you behind the scenes of the incredible medical care happening every day at SPCA Cincinnati. Share Clementine’s story to help us shine a light on this work - and maybe help her hero find a family, too. ❤️ #MedicalMonday #SPCACincinnati #Cincinnati #ShelterMedicine #AdoptDontShop #CincinnatiCats

Our President & CEO, Chris Seelbach, and his viral foster turned adopted cat, Pumpkin, have officially gone national on Good Morning America! This morning, the 25 pound cat who captured hearts online was featured on ABC’s Good Morning America, giving millions of people across the country a chance to meet this very special girl. But Pumpkin’s story is about so much more than going viral. When Pumpkin came to SPCA Cincinnati, she needed a little extra time, attention and a different environment to thrive. Chris and his husband, Craig, welcomed her into their home as a foster in March. And that’s exactly what fostering is all about. A foster home gives an animal a break from the shelter and the time and individualized care they may need. Sometimes it’s for a few days. Sometimes it’s for a few months. And sometimes, like Pumpkin, a temporary foster home becomes a forever home. Chris and Craig officially adopted Pumpkin earlier this month. We’re thrilled that millions of people are getting to know Pumpkin. But we’re even more excited about what her story can show people about the power of fostering. There are more animals at SPCA Cincinnati waiting for their chance. Maybe the next Pumpkin is waiting for you. Interested in fostering? Four days. Countless breakthroughs. A stronger future for shelter dogs. As another Dogs Playing for Life training comes to a close, we are filled with gratitude for the incredible partnership that continues to transform the lives of the animals in our care. Because of this investment, more dogs are experiencing enrichment, building confidence, and showing families who they truly are while they wait for a second chance. More than a year ago, our President & CEO, Chris Seelbach, recognized the need to fundamentally change the shelter experience for dogs and invited Dogs Playing for Life to help lead that transformation. Together, we are building a culture where play, enrichment, and behavior are essential parts of lifesaving. The progress we've made is a testament to what is possible when innovation is matched with commitment. To every donor, Fur Ball supporter, volunteer, and advocate who believed in this vision, thank you. Your investment in Dogs Playing for Life is creating happier, healthier dogs, shortening their journey to loving homes, and helping us save even more lives. And to the entire Dogs Playing for Life team, thank you for inspiring us, challenging us, and helping shape the future of animal welfare at SPCA Cincinnati. "You brought me to tears on Day-1." — Aaron Caldwell, Director of Shelter Programming, Dogs Playing for Life. Those words will stay with us. They remind us that meaningful transformation isn't measured only by programs or statistics—it's measured by the lives changed because a community believed every dog deserves dignity, joy, and the opportunity to thrive. Thank you, Aaron and Melody, for helping us build a brighter future for the animals we serve. @DogsPlayForLife #animalwelfare #dogsplayingforlife #spcacincinnati

🌟 In the Fab Five Spotlight today: RUBY! 🌟 Ruby is a 9 y/o female who has most recently been with us for about four months, but was also with us previously for about two and a half years. 🥺 Don't let the "senior" title fool you, Ruby still has plenty of pep in her step! Whether she's splashing around in her pool, chasing after toys, or enjoying a nice walk, this happy-go-lucky girl is always ready to make the most of her day. Water is her happy place, toys are her love language, and she's a total pro on leash. When the fun winds down, Ruby is happiest curled up with her favorite people. She's a world-class cuddler who forms deep bonds with the humans she trusts. New people can make her a little nervous at first, but with a little patience and a few treats or toys, her sweet, silly personality starts to shine. Ruby is looking for a home where she can truly shine. She'd love to be the queen of her castle, so she'd do best as the only pet in a home without small children, where she can settle in, feel safe, and soak up all the love she deserves. This goofy golden girl is SO ready to trade kennel life for cozy couches and sunny afternoons. ✨ As she's a part of our Fab Five squad this month, Ruby's adoption fee is WAIVED and she will head home with an extra goody bag! Stop by or call today! 📍11900 Conrey Rd, Sharonville 📞513.541.6100 #FabFive #SPCACincinnati

Today, we broke ground on the future of animal welfare in our community. The new Peter G. Courlas and Nicholas Tsimaras Medical & Foster Center is more than a building. It is greater than another construction project. It is a transformational investment that will expand lifesaving medical care, strengthen our foster program, and help thousands more animals receive a fighting chance. As President & CEO Chris Seelbach shared during today's ceremony, "It's about changing what's possible." To Peter G. Courlas, thank you for your extraordinary generosity and for creating a legacy of compassion that will save lives for generations to come. Together, we're building a brighter future for animals and the people who love them.
