📣 [THREAD] Today the @Europarl_EN calls on Member States to criminalise the purchase of sexual acts and to decriminalise persons in prostitution ! The landmark report on "regulation of prostitution in the EU" has been adopted by a majority. Congrats @MariaNoichl ✊🇪🇺
Adopted!
The 🇪🇺Parliament just called for EU action on prostitution, to cut demand and help women leave it.
It’s time to end the deeply sexist and racist system of prostitution that exploits women and commits violence against them.
Congratulations @MariaNoichl!

New post – a response to the ICJ’s recent report calling for the #decrim of the sexual exploitation industry and perhaps also sex with minors.
“In short, the ICJ report reads more like a male rights activist charter than a human rights treatise...”

I'm not sure whether this is disingenuousness or just plain ignorance from the Young Greens, either way, they should be reminded that *many* more women are murdered under the full decriminalisation legislation they're calling for. @younggreens @greenparty_ie
We want to extend our condolences to family & friends of this young women murdered in Limerick.
The "Nordic Model" has led to unsafe working practices & a rise of violence toward sex workers. As stated "working safely and working legally are now incompatible." #Decrimnow
Prostitution understandably causes deep trauma for the women and girls who exist within it. This is what happens when the inside of a woman's body becomes something men can just purchase access to on a whim.
“The situation of prostitution is overwhelming. When sexual contact doesn’t happen out of desire but she forces herself to do it to make money, she might try to disconnect herself from the situation. This causes a dissociation of body & spirit…
