Here’s a treat: Bill Murray & Rodney Dangerfield as competing “Supermen” (co-starring Valerie Perrine from the actual movies!). From 1982.

PLEASE keep having Victoria co-host the recaps, it makes the comments more entertaining. She was a cast member for years, her view on the show it entirely valid. And wishing her well in her ongoing health battle.

Weak cold open, into catastrophic monologue..can judge boorishness but just amateur level delivery, skits good ideas way too long like AC and Seuss, do they save all the misogyny jokes for Gillis? or he is in room?, Rosalia underwhelming and NewsDesk just fantastic and some heft

Every time Gillis is on, there are a few really strong sketches and an absolutely brutal monologue. This time was no different. Strongest episode so far re sketches. Monologue was offensive and unfunny, an unforgivable combination.

Another rough Gillis monologue, but the rest of the show was strong. Easily best of this first block of episodes.

I don’t have strong opinions on Gillis. All I’ve ever seen him do is host the and I thought he’s been … meh. But that monologue l? I can’t remember a standup tanking that bad. Ever. And I’ve been watching since the show began. Martin Lawrence maybe? That was atrocious.

C. Shane’s weakest appearance. No mention of Mike Ditka. Weekend Update is starting to feel stale and in need of a new pairing soon.

Just watched on DVR. Thought Weekend Update was solid - and Grace Reiter had some good moments to shine (she and Ashley were great as mother/daughter). Last sketch was funny and the hospice one was cute. Rosalia sounded lovely- but most sketches were rather forgettable.
