📢 📢 We could not be happier to share this wonderful news: Miguel Anaya has been awarded the 2026 Felisa Martín Bravo National Research Award for Young Researchers in Physical Sciences, Materials Science and Earth Sciences! 🥳 🙌
Four intense days at @DiamondLightSou ! Last week, Irene, Amel and @CarmenHdg had the opportunity to carry out an intensive SAXS/WAXS experiment at beamline B21 at Diamond Light Source, studying our MOF samples.
Our main goal was to combine information from both techniques to follow particle formation and size while simultaneously assessing crystallinity, bringing together structural information across different length scales.
Our own Luisa Maria Valencia Liñan and Guadalupe Vega represented SMSLab at #IMC21 in Liverpool! Both had the opportunity to present their latest work, spanning electron and X-ray microscopy, and to share their results with the international microscopy community.
Our Carmen is currently carrying out a research stay at @DiamondLightSou under the supervision of Barbara Gerbelli, focused on gaining an in-depth understanding of SAXS and WAXS data analysis.
It is a great opportunity to learn directly from a professional in the field and to work alongside researchers with extensive experience in synchrotron measurements. A valuable experience full of learning, new perspectives that will undoubtedly contribute to her research. 🔬 📊
We are extremely happy to welcome Irene Vigneron back to the group. Irene pursued her bachelor thesis in Physics with us in 2024-2025, obtaining the best results of her cohort. After a year at the @UnivParisSaclay (M2 Quantum, light, materials and nanoscience) 🧵
What a week for SMSLab! 🙌
We hosted the latest #NextPVNet meeting in Seville, bringing researchers together for two days of science and collaboration, and joined the #EuropeanResearchersNight with our Light Laboratory.
Science, outreach and community, what a success! ✨

It's almost here! NextPVNet is coming to Seville! ☀️
On September 24-25, the @ICMSevilla will host the next meeting of the Next Organic-Inorganic Photovoltaic Network (NextPVNet), organised by @MAnayaLab and @Guada_Vega2
We are excited to welcome researchers from across Spain, both within and beyond the network, for two days of scientific exchange, inspiring discussions, and new opportunities for collaboration in the field of photovoltaics.
We look forward to welcoming you all to Seville!

A throwback to two great measurement sessions before the summer! 🔬
@Guada_Vega2 was at I14 beamline at Diamond Light Source carrying out nano-XRD measurements in a collaboration with @quoptics, while Amel was busy with another measurement campaign at @redescna.
Great sessions, lots of data, and hopefully great results to come! 🚀
Many thanks to all the scientists and technicians who supported us during the experiments!

Huge congrats to Amel for her excellent Master Thesis dissertation and defense! Her work explored the thermal behaviour and structural transformations of hybrid halide perovskites, contributing to a better understanding of these fascinating materials and their stability.
