Breast Cancer Awareness on the Road 💕
Have you spotted our pink Tahoes around San Joaquin County?
This October, two of our Sheriff’s Office vehicles are proudly wrapped in pink to raise awareness for breast cancer and show support for those impacted by this disease.
Behind the design is our very own Public Information Officer and Lead Graphic Designer, Rita! Her creativity and talent help bring so many of our Sheriff’s Office projects to life, and these wraps are no exception.
A special thank you to OMG Wraps for bringing her vision to life!
As you see our pink Tahoes out in the community, we hope they serve as a reminder of the importance of early detection.

The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office extends our deepest condolences following the tragic loss of California Highway Patrol Officer Brian Liles. Our hearts are with his family, loved ones, and the entire CHP family during this unimaginable time.
Officer Liles devoted more than 16 years of honorable service to the people of California. He leaves behind his wife, two children, his parents, and two sisters. We mourn alongside every person who knew him, served with him, and cared for him.
This loss is felt far beyond one agency. It reaches every man and woman who has ever put on a uniform and chosen a life of service. Officer Liles made that choice, and he gave everything in it.
We ask our community to keep his family, friends, and colleagues in your thoughts and prayers. The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office stands with the California Highway Patrol as we honor his service and remember his sacrifice.

🚨Online Predator Arrested🚨
The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office detectives have arrested 34-year-old Matthew Martin in connection with an investigation involving the sexual exploitation of a child.
Investigators learned Martin allegedly met a 12-year-old victim through a social media application and engaged in repeated communications containing sexually explicit content. Detectives determined he traveled from San Francisco on multiple occasions to meet with the victim.
With assistance from the San Francisco Police Department, detectives located and arrested Martin on July 30, 2026. He was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on multiple felony charges related to child sexual abuse and exploitation.
This case serves as an important reminder for parents and guardians to monitor their children’s online activity and discuss the dangers of communicating with strangers on social media. At the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office, we remain committed to protecting children and holding offenders accountable.

From Marine Corps veteran to deputy sheriff, Jake's path to this office reflects the kind of dedication and leadership that doesn't stop at one career. What made this moment even more special is that his father, Detective Jacobson, received this same award in 2024.
We are proud to have Deputy Jacobson on our team. Thank you to VeteranHelp.net for recognizing the men and women who continue to serve long after the uniform changes!

After years of dedicated service, countless deployments, and an unwavering commitment to keeping our community safe, it’s time for one of SJ Sheriff’s very best to hang up the leash.
K-9 Axel is officially retiring after more than five years of service to the people of San Joaquin County. Throughout his career, Axel completed more than 300 deployments, assisted in drug interdiction efforts resulting in more than $100,000 in asset forfeitures, and expanded his skills to include off-road operations, search and rescue missions, and water and boat deployments.
While Axel took his job seriously, he’s also known for having a taste for expensive furniture and never saying no to a good tug toy.
Now, this good boy is trading patrol work for a much more relaxing assignment, staying with his handler as he begins his well-earned retirement upstairs in Investigations.
Thank you, Axel, for your loyalty, dedication, and the countless ways you’ve served our community. Enjoy retirement. You’ve earned every minute of it.
