Organisers ALRC say a Somaliland Deal Book of up to 14 projects worth more than $1 billion was presented to investors.
Why it matters: Somaliland is pitching for foreign capital as it pushes for wider international recognition.

Once you consider your adopted country your home, you contribute meaningfully. Across the globe, Somalilanders are contributing economically, socially, and scientifically to their adopted nations, here is another great example from the USA. #Somaliland @lizcollin
Many thanks @lizcollin. Some people may still be confused about these two countries, so let us be clear:
#Somalia and #Somaliland are two completely different countries politically, culturally, and socially. Somaliland was never historically part of Somalia. In 1960, the two independent countries attempted to unite to form the '' Somali Republic'', but the legal Act of Union was never ratified. In 1991, Somaliland withdrew from the union and reclaimed its sovereignty. Today, Somaliland is celebrated as a miracle of stability in the region, whereas Somalia remains a troubled and failed state.
Nearly one million Somalilanders roughly 21% of Somaliland's population live abroad across 68 countries globally. Notably, there have not been reported cases of Somaliland diaspora members engaging in fraud, serving as a testament to the strong cultural integrity of Somalilanders. Somaliland diasporas are well known for assimilating successfully into their host nations, excelling in various fields including politics, business, athletics, science and ....! A primary reason Somalia has struggled as a failed state over the past four decades, facing rampant corruption and institutional collapse can be traced back to the legacy of Italian colonial governance and the erosion of traditional cultural institutions. Regrettably, Somalian diasporas bring these broken social and governance systems into their new host countries, including the USA.

Why the world trusts us: As Somalilanders, we hold ourselves to high standards of truth. We never publish exaggerated claims, unverified achievements, or false stories about Somaliland. Instead, we educate the global community about our rich history and culture while sharing the natural beauty of our landscapes and wildlife. We strongly believe that even the slightest untrue narrative can harm Somaliland’s standing on the global stage. To uphold this transparency, we invite hundreds of election observers from USA, Europe, Africa to verify our elections and democratic processes, and we welcome international visitors to experience firsthand the peace and stability we have built. We invite the world to come and discover what kind of nation #Somaliland is.

“On recognition, there is a growing willingness in Washington to assess Somaliland based on today’s geopolitical realities and security and commercial interests rather than outdated diplomatic conventions.”
“Somaliland has demonstrated that it is prepared to stand by its like-minded partners even when doing so carries a cost.”
“Somaliland is not creating new borders; it reclaims its borders of the former British Somaliland protectorate, which became independent in 1960 before entering a voluntary union with Somalia.”
